I have speculated before that there were significant difficulties with women carrying pregnancies to term at this point in history. Cosmic ray damage? Lingering radioactivity from the 40,000 y explosion of the Plagarean Volcanoes? IF the people who settled this area developed this glandular condition that would have REQUIRED a settled almost sedentary lifestyle, then this would lead to farming. A limited physical condition is responsible for society's change from hunting/gathering to farming.
