The creator of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine was responding to Trump's announcement last week that he would enforce "a complete and total shutdown on all Muslims entering the US" should he be elected to the White House.
Moore, who was standing in solidarity with Muslims rather than announcing a religious conversion, also posted an open letter to the billionaire tycoon on Facebook, where he claimed fear and ignorance were the driving forces behind his incendiary policy choices.
"Here we are in 2015, like many other angry white guys, you are frightened by a bogeyman who is out to get you. That bogeyman, in your mind, are all Muslims. Not just the ones who have killed, but ALL MUSLIMS," he wrote.
Moore went on to suggest that the changing demographics of the American electorate give Trump little chance of success in his bid to for the Oval Office.
"We are not a country of angry white guys," wrote the Oscar-winning documentary director. "Here's a statistic that is going to make your hair spin: Eighty-one percent of the electorate who will pick the president next year are either female, people of color, or young people between the ages of 18 and 35. In other words, not you. And not the people who want you leading their country."
Moore concluded by insisting that Trump needed to follow "American rules" or exit the presidential race.
"We are all Muslim," he said. "Just as we are all Mexican, we are all Catholic and Jewish and white and black and every shade in between...If you don't like living by these American rules, then you need to go to the time-out room in any one of your Towers, sit there, and think about what you've said."
Personally, I'd like to see western women of every religious faith (or no faith at all) wearing hijabs, veils, or burkas in solidarity with Muslims world wide. Just as a statement or testament that we refuse to surrender our humanity, compassion, empathy and knowledge of the truth on the sacrificial altar of liars, psychopaths, and terror torturers.
Wasn't it the King of Denmark who appeared in public wearing a black armband with the jewish star of david when the nazis decreed that all jews must wear it as a brand? And after the King appeared with the armband, most all the citizens donned one the very next day as well? Why aren't we doing the same vis-a-vis Muslims?
