Last week Thomas Friedman writing in the New York Times called Putin a "thug" and "Hitler" (HERE ). This week Timothy Garton Ash writing in the Guardian comment section says Putin is Slobodan Milosevic (HERE ).

Both Friedman and Ash say that Putin is threatening Europe and he must be stopped. Both say the only way to stop Putin is to tighten the screws of economic sanctions on Russia, send more lethal military equipment to Ukraine and put NATO boots on the ground. They both call on Obama to do so.

Putin is neither Hitler nor Milosevic. Whenever people write such hyperbole they should immediately be suspected of being propagandists, especially when they heap praise on John "Bomb-Bomb" McCain as Ash does.

Neither Friedman nor Ash can point to any evidence that Putin has been the aggressor in Ukraine, committed genocide as did Hitler and Milosevic, or tried to cause ethnic cleansing. Kiev backed by Obama has been committing genocide and ethnic cleansing in South-East Ukraine.

Russian tanks are not on the move and threatening Europe. Friedman and Ash are making it up. The Baltic States and Poland are safe no matter how much Obama and the main stream media wring their hands and say they are frightened of Russian aggression in Europe. It is almost laughable if they were not so deadly serious and determined about their ulterior motives for making these stories up.

Only those with exaggerated imaginations or people who want to make things up say that Russia has shown evil intentions on its neighbors. People like Friedman and Ashton keep sticking their finger in Putin's eye hoping that he will lash out irrationally. So far they have been very disappointed.

Throughout the crisis that Washington manufactured in Ukraine, Russia has reacted in a measured and moderate response. When Russia's national security was threatened with the loss of its naval base in Crimea, Russia waited for a democratic referendum to approve annexation. When Novorossiya voted to break away from Ukraine, Russia called for diplomacy and greater autonomy for Novorossiya rather than annexation.

When the government in Kiev surrounded, isolated and attacked the civilian population of Donbas, Russia sent in humanitarian aid. And Russia continues to send in humanitarian aid although it is ignored by the main stream media.

Obama and Kiev were furious that Russia would send food, medicine and water to those made homeless and starving by a war dreamed up by Obama and carried out by those in Kiev against their own people. We should ask who it is that is really acting like Hitler and Milosevic? Is it Obama or Putin?

We have the leaked RAND Corporation report for the planned genocide and ethnic cleansing of Novorossiya (HERE). The authenticity of the leaked report is yet to be verified, yet it is the script that Obama and Kiev are following. The RAND Corporation report calls for labeling everybody in Novorossiya terrorists and then inflicting total war on them all: Men, women, children and babies. Kiev is the genocidaires and ethnic cleansers.

Contrary to editorial writers, it is NATO, Europe and the US that has been making hostile moves towards Russia. It is NATO and the US that for years has surrounded Russia with military bases, nukes and missiles.

It is the US and NATO that has been conducting military war games on Russia's border. It is the US and NATO that has been sending war ships into the Black Sea. It is the US and Europe that has imposed economic warfare against Russia.

It is Obama that has boasted of causing Russia's economic misery. Need we remind Obama that sanctions kill? In Iraq US sanctions killed one-half million babies.

It is the Western main stream media that has been fueling the propaganda war. They are the ones making it personal. It is they that have been name-calling and beating the war drums.

We know how Washington creates "Color Revolutions" to destabilize countries and overthrow governments. The US can pretend it worships democracy yet we know that it usually prefers right wing and military dictatorships.

What Washington will not tolerate is a foreign government that acts in the best interests of its own people instead of favoring US and Global Corporations. Any country that uses its natural resources for the benefit of its own people will be attacked with a "Color Revolution". These attacks are almost always over natural resources. This is the fate now of Ukraine at the hands of Obama.

Hasn't the US and NATO had enough war in the past 14 years? Weren't the failed wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria enough death and destruction for the dogs of war? How many millions of civilians have to die for the profits of the military industrial complex? Apparently there is never enough of either death or profits. The US has left a wake of chaos in its path of wars.

As the war criminal Madeleine Albright said, it is "worth it" if a half-million Iraqi babies die as long as it furthers US foreign policy goals (HERE) . It is so easy for these foreign policy experts to sacrifice other people's babies for their war objectives. We don't see any of them sending their own children off to war.

David Swanson the tireless peace activist has proposed many good ideas to end war. One of them is that in any future wars, all high ranking government officials and national politicians should have to send their own children to the front lines in combat roles.

In a few years Malia and Sasha Obama will come of military age. If it is so important to "stop Putin" then sending the Obama girls off to war is a small price to pay. Will you sacrifice your daughters Mr. President? Of course we know that is never going to happen.

Most of the war mongering neocons wouldn't fight when they were of combat age themselves. The Dick Cheney's, George Bush's and Donald Rumsfeld's were expert at dodging the draft to avoid their own baptism of fire in Vietnam. The war mongering neocons and their children never fight their wars themselves.

Timothy Garton Ash in his column says now is not the time for diplomacy to stop Putin. That is ridiculous. It is always the right time for diplomacy to avoid war. Nobody ever dies from talking.

The victims of wars are always mostly the old, the young, the weak and the defenseless. Once war starts nobody knows which direction it will take. War is always a gamble and a roll of the dice. The outcome is uncertain and almost always much worse than anybody ever predicted.

One would think that after 14 years of failed US-NATO wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria that the main stream media would have learned to urge more caution and diplomacy before resorting to a call to arms.

Instead Ash brings up metaphors about the need to "kick ar*e" and stories of Putin winning the propaganda war. Ash calls for stepped up anti-Russian propaganda from the BBC to overcome the common assumption that Kiev is being run by a bunch of Nazis.

Europe has caught the American disease of historical amnesia and has forgotten the devastation that it suffered from two World Wars. Instead of the Guardian presenting cooler heads calling for diplomacy, it lets Ash rant away at whipping up war hysteria.

Ash says that only "guns can stop Putin's guns". Of course he will be leading from the rear. The main stream media needs to take it seriously that a confrontation between the US and Russia could turn nuclear and destroy Europe and the planet.

Just a little over 100 years ago Europe set the stage for war. All it took was a little spark. On June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated touching off WW1. At the time it was called the war to end all wars. It wasn't, but WW3 will be.
