Many of our older readers probably remember a time when measles wasn't viewed with the obscene level of paranoid hysterics being witnessed today. Like chickenpox, measles was a common childhood infection that, after running its typically mild course, imparted lifelong immunity in those who contracted it. The risk of serious complications or death from measles has always been overwhelmingly minimal, in other words, with previous generations viewing it as something of a rite of passage.
Fast forward to today and all rationality and common sense has gone out the window on this issue. The media is reporting a few isolated cases of measles as if it were the black plague, calling for those who don't vaccinate their children to be ostracized from their communities or even jailed for "putting others at unnecessary risk." But where are the facts in all this unsubstantiated mania, which unfairly tags the unvaccinated as dangerous lepers?
Once again, the media is discarding factual reporting in favor of mindless sensationalism, attributing an alleged measles resurgence -- even this claim is specious -- to the unvaccinated. Whether or not this claim is actually true pales in importance compared to the fact that measles really isn't much of a threat in the first place. The measles vaccine, on the other hand, is a whole different story.
"There have been no measles deaths reported in the U.S. since 2003," the Associate Press reported based off statements made by Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
Meanwhile, VAERS, which captures only a very small percentage of the actual number of injuries and deaths associated with measles vaccines, reports at least 108 deaths associated with measles vaccines since 2003. Of these, a shocking 96 deaths were reported in conjunction with MMR, which is now the preferred vaccine for measles immunization.
Measles deaths were virtually nonexistent prior to introduction of vaccine, which is now triggering outbreaks. Some will try to argue that measles deaths are essentially nonexistent now because of measles vaccines, the first of which was introduced in 1963. But this argument holds no water -- U.S. measles mortality data shows that deaths from measles rapidly declined in the years leading up to when the first vaccine was introduced, validating the success of improved sanitation and better nutrition in making measles a non-problem.
This plotted graph from HealthSentinel.com visually illustrates this:
"What you may not have heard, is that by 1963, the death rate from measles in the United States had already dropped by approximately 98%," explains the International Medical Council on Vaccination (IMCV).
Not long after it was introduced, the first measles vaccine was actually found to manifest worse symptoms of measles in vaccinated patients than if they hadn't gotten the vaccine at all. The vaccine also suppressed the normal rash and fever associated with measles, obstructing the normal immune response and ultimately leading to future health problems for vaccinated individuals once they reached adulthood.
"[W]hereas natural measles exposure generally left the person with reliable lifelong immunity, measles vaccines leave the individual with waning immunity," adds IMCV. "This dynamic of waning immunity means we will probably see measles epidemics even in highly vaccinated populations."
Comment: Clearly health authorities are hyping the risks of measles to the masses. Why the push towards mass vaccinations? It's becoming increasingly clear that vaccines are more dangerous than the actual ailments they are meant to protect against.

If raw statistics are observed without manipulation, then we can see that the medical profession is responsible for more deaths (medical mistakes) than all the wars combined (estimates)
Most certainly, the medical profession is responsible for more deaths than those bought about by the use of firearms in the US annually.
If people choose to put faith in these drug pushers then it is their ill informed choice.
are proven to work. Polio went the way of the dodo after vaccinations started. Cleanliness and bad preservatives are issues that should be dealt with. BUT - The value of using vaccines itself should not be. These articles are very much like the ignorant, anti-science diatribes from the right wing in the US. The most un-educated carrying-on about their FREEDUMB. The lack of community responsibility endangers everyone else. It's shocking that so many intelligent people who read things here are falling into this group!
" It's shocking that so many intelligent people who read things here are falling into this group!"
You know how many people say that? You know what we hear? "OMG! You're threatening my sacred cow!"
What's shocking is that so many otherwise intelligent people still have a sacred cow that they refuse to sacrifice on the altar of truth. Vaccines, smoking, diet, history, etc. etc.
The data doesn't lie,the corporations who benefit do. Quackery used to be dressed up like a clown then they put a business suit on it and called it allopathic medicine, but it still remains quackery. Vaccines have never been proven to work. I've typed medical reports for 35 years and those vaccinated have always come down with the very diseases they were vaccinated for. Your subjective opinions and name calling are typical knee-jerk reactions of the pro-vaxxers. Come to the table with some good objective evidence that vaccines work.
I don't believe nor have I read, then or now, about children getting sick with the disease they were vaccinated for.
But I am seeing so much libertarian stuff on the site, I do wonder where these nonsensical ideas come from. The libertarians are a soulless group. They would consign the least among us to a miserable life, as they are now doing in the US states that are run by them.. Koch Bros states.... mini-nazis.
You'd understand that all groups are soulless. The party line ploy is just another way to short circuit critical thinking, so I hope you can put down the whip long enough to research. The thing is, things are a lot different than they were in the 50's. Sure, the basic story is the same, but the vaccines aren't. Neither are the owners of the pharmaceutical providing it. And no, you aren't going to hear stories about people dying from vaccines. Because you aren't supposed to. Ask any of the people in developing countries who were offered "successful free vaccination" while these things have been in the testing stages. So what if they died? They were poor anyway. Couldn't possibly be that vaccine they got 5 days ago. Look it up. Also, ask for the pamphlet parents are now given when it's time for their baby's first vaccine...wanna know what the last bulleted item on the b side is? "Oh, by the way, in rare and severe instances, this can cause death." But you aren't supposed to read that far. Just like you aren't supposed to listen to the fast talk at the end of a happy pill commercial. All you need to do is sign this consent form, and we all know your precious child will stay safe forever.
Has anybody else noticed that the same season that the flu shot was 23 percent effective, measles, pertussis, and mumps have popped up? I have a suspicion that at best it's a quality control issue, and all of this publicity is only ensuring sales of a bullshit product. No money back guarantee.
Measles, mumps and chicken pox. In the fifties, we all got them.
Each time, we got extra attention from Mama and a vacation from school.
Life was good!
The US media are sure taking a hard line on the need for legislation geared towards vaccination of the washed masses. This would create a definite class barrier for people who don't agree with vaccination.
It would seem that the separation process is in high gear
