Club life: Rogelio Andaverde was arrested for faking his kidnapping so he could go out drinking with friends
A man faked his own kidnapping in front of his terrified wife so he could spend the night boozing with pals.

Rogelio Andaverde 'arranged' for two masked men to grab him from his home in Edinburg, Texas.

His horrified wife watched as he was dragged at gunpoint from the house and driven away.

She called cops, who launched a hunt for the 34 year old.

Andaverde's wife spent more than five hours with police being interviewed as police searched for the kidnap victim, according to KTVI.

Her husband returned home the following day and said his kidnappers 'just let him go.

Police became suspicious of his story and he later confessed he made up the story because he wanted a night out with friends without his wife.

Two friends had posed as his abductors wearing masks to hide their faces and carrying guns.

'We took this incident very serious because of the circumstances described to us by the wife,' said Sheriff Trevino said.

'Say cheers!': Mr Andaverde has been booked on charges of making a false report and is sitting in a jail cell on a $5,000 bond

'People don't just barge into your house and kidnap you for the hell of it.'

He said Andaverde confessed that he wanted to go out "partying with friends" and came up with the plan.

He added: 'I don't think his wife appreciated being kept until 4 or 5 in the morning, being interviewed by the cops while her husband was out doing who knows what with who knows who.'

'He's going to have a lot of answering to do.'

Andaverde was booked into jail and charged with making a false report to police.

He was released after posting$5,000 ( pds3,000) bail.
