Heavy rains have sparked flooding in southern Spain, where currents swept away the body of an elderly man and the car of two people who remained missing, emergency services said Friday.

The body of the 67-year-old man was found in a ditch near Jaen late Thursday. The cause of his death was not known.

Police were searching for two people whose car had been swept away in the same area.

The flooding also affected several rail links, including the line connecting Jaen with Madrid.
