The room being hung around with a collection of the portraits of remarkable men, among them were those of Bacon, Newton and Locke. Hamilton asked me who they were. I told him they were my trinity of the three greatest men the world had ever produced, naming them. He paused for some time: "The greatest man," said he, "that ever lived, was Julius Caesar."

Can someone explain to me how you vaccinate against giving up on life? Or against repressed memories that turn against the mind that harbours them? How do you vaccinate against mental laziness and lack of stimulus thatโs positive and mind expanding rather than stupefying?
I donโt think you can. I think you can only get off your ass and DO something about it. Like a crossword puzzle a day, or taking up calculus at the age of 80 (I saw this at uni with my own two eyes!). Or just letting out the shameful memories of the past that are eating the brain alive.
Mind. Body. Matter.
Or so I think.
