The event was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN), from the meteor-observing stations located at La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada), and Sevilla.
An unusual sight was spotted in Cork skies last night when a meteorite was filmed blazing through the sky before it had even gone dark.
Footage shared on Twitter last night shows the fireball blasting across the Cork skyline while it was still bright.
The video was taken in Ballinhassig at around 9:26pm with experts saying it would be unusual for it to be a meteorite so early in the night.
Earlier today, a meteor flew through the skies of California. Tens of people in California saw the meteor, most of those around the San Francisco area. Witnesses flocked to the International Meteor Organisation (IMO) to report their sighting.
Some were concerned that it was going to make land surface - which it did not.
A person named Cole told the IMO: "It was extremely close looking compared to any other meteor-like object I've observed and was headed towards the direction of Briones Reservoir.
"Could've touched down not too far from my location but am unsure. Very visible fragmentation."

The discovery came as scientists were updating geologic maps of Dakota County. They identified anomalies in the rock record — certain layers appeared out of order or irregularly sized. This led to further examination and the identification of small grains of shocked quartz, which is known to be produced only by the extreme shock and compression of a meteorite impact or nuclear explosion.
"It's really exciting and new," geologist Julia Steenberg told MPR News host Cathy Wurzer. Steenberg and her colleagues are hoping to do more research to better understand the age of the impact and the size of the meteorite involved.
Globally, known meteorite impact sites are exceptionally rare. This is the first identified in Minnesota and one of fewer than 200 in the world.
Authorities received multiple reports from residents saying they heard an "explosion" on Saturday night, but found no evidence of an explosion.
Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW police responded to the calls, but said they found nothing, not even a fire, to indicate an explosion had taken place.
Mystery surrounds the incident, with reports the sound was heard across Marrickville, Roselands, Bardwell Park, Campsie and Belmore.
Residents reported windows shaking, and that the sound was something like an explosion or a backfiring car, but with no visual indicators.

The meteor was visible from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba at approximately 8:02 PM Friday 7th May 2021.
According to the Caribbean Astronomy Society (SAC), "It was a space rock of metallic content friction with our atmosphere."
CBET xxxx & MPEC 2021-J71 , issued on 2021, May 06, announce the discovery of an apparently asteroidal object (magnitude ~19.5) on CCD images taken on March 09.5 UT with the 1.2-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar in the course of the "Zwicky Transient Facility" (ZTF) search program. This object has been found to show cometary appearance by CCD astrometrists elsewhere. The new comet has been designated C/2021 E3 (ZTF).
Stacking of 14 unfiltered exposures, 120 seconds each, obtained remotely on 2021, March 19.2 from Z08 (Telescope Live, Oria) through a 0.7 m f/8 Ritchey Chretien + CCD, shows that this object is a comet with a compact coma about 7" in diameter (Observers E. Guido, M. Rocchetto, E. Bryssinck, M. Fulle, G. Milani, C. Nassef, G. Savini, A. Valvasori).
