Homes and businesses had to be evacuated and roads remain closed in parts of southern France after heavy storms brought severe flooding and mudslides overnight June 8-9.
There were more than 100 fire brigade interventions, particularly in the towns of Eauze, Montréal, and Fourcès in Gers (Occitanie).
Homes and businesses were affected, including those in the central square of Fourcès, where the restaurant Auberge De Fourcès was completely flooded.
Forecaster Météo France said that more than 100 mm of rain fell in the north-west of the department between 21:00 and 02:00, causing severe damage in places, and leading to the rehoming of 33 people, of which nine people needed to be rescued.

Storms have hit the Costa Blanca sparking shocking flooding in the area just hours after officials warned about strong currents in the sea around the area pulling people out to sea.
British holidaymakers hoping to leave behind the rain by heading to Spain have been met with torrential downpours, hail, strong winds and flash floods.
Images from Costa Blanca showed submerged streets, overflowing rivers, and fast-moving water barrelling across dry fields before crashing onto highways.
Hail stones have fallen in some parts of the Valencian community, which includes the provinces of Alicante and Valencia, with more predicted today, while Benidorm is on a yellow storm alert with the possibility of rain put at 100 per cent.
Flash floods have killed at least three people and left one missing in northern Vietnam since Saturday night, the government said on Monday, and more heavy rains are expected over the coming days.
The victims include a 3-year-old boy and his father and a 42-year-old woman, all in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, the government said in a statement.

Damage is seen on an Austrian Airlines airplane in Vienna
An Austrian Airlines flight suffered significant damage from hail, which took off part of the airplane's nose on Sunday, the airline said.
Flight OS434 was flying from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, to Vienna, Austria, when it hit a "thunderstorm cell," Austrian Airlines said in a statement to ABC News. The hail caused damage to the cockpit windows, some coverings and the nose, which photos showed appeared to have broken off.
"I think we were about 20 minutes from landing when we got into a cloud of hail and thunderstorm, and the turbulence started," Emmeley Oakley, a passenger on the flight, told ABC News via text message.
Oakley said that inside the cabin, they could hear the hail as it hit their aircraft.
"We could definitely feel the hail coming down on the plane and it was quite loud and ofc super rocky for a minute," Oakley wrote.
The city of Pune is facing heavy rainfall that has caused waterlogging in several areas, prompting alerts for the next three hours. The weather department has predicted rainfall in different regions of Maharashtra, and the India Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for various districts in the Konkan and Ghats regions due to expected heavy rainfall.
Shivajinagar has seen the highest rainfall with 67.4 mm, followed by Pashan with 56.8 mm. The heavy downpour has resulted in floods and traffic congestion in some parts of the city. This is only the pre-monsoon period, and rainfall in urban areas is expected to continue, along with suggested actions to minimize risks.
A lightning strike killed two pupils of Akorikeya primary school and injured 12 others in Abiliyep sub-county, Amudat district in northern Uganda.
The pupils aged between 13 and 15 were struck on Friday while playing in the school compound during the heavy downpour at around 5:30 pm according to George Owanyi, Amudat resident district commissioner (RDC).
Owanyi said that the injured pupils are currently admitted and are responding to treatment. This incident comes nearly two months after lightning struck a nurse and a cleaner at Kaabong hospital in Kaabong district.
In Le Chan District, segments of To Hieu Street were under nearly one meter of water.
Many areas in Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province were under 0.5-1 meter of water on Sunday following prolonged downpours lasting from early morning until noon.
Da Nang Street in northern Hai Phong City became inundated after rainfall persisted from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m., significantly impeding commuting.
The port city had seen a rainfall intensity of 250 mm per hour that morning, according to the Hai Phong Sewerage & Drainage Company.
Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and many northern provinces have been experiencing heavy rainfall in the last several days due to the influence of a low-pressure trough passing through the region.
Weather forecasters predict that the downpour will persist until Monday with rainfall of 30-80 mm on average and over 150 mm in some areas.
Heavy downpours have lashed several areas in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region over the past few days, flooding roads, triggering landslides and trapping residents there.
The mountainous Napo County in Baise City experienced multiple landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on Saturday morning which damaged roads and disrupted traffic. The local road maintenance center immediately organized repair work. As of 17:00, two sections of the damaged roads reopened to traffic with a limited traffic flow.
