Moscow - A Russian MP has asked an eccentric regional leader to explain his behaviour after claiming on state television that he was visited at home by aliens in a UFO, media reported Thursday.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, head of the Buddhist Kalmykia region of southern Russia and president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE), announced without apparent irony on a high-profile chat show he had met the aliens in 1997.

In an equally bizarre twist, Andrei Lebedev, an MP for the nationalist Liberal Democratic Party, has now written to President Dmitry Medvedev raising fears that secret information could have been disclosed in the close encounter.

The accidental photograph on today's front page of a UFO over a popular tourist destination occurred only hours before a bright light buzzed the crowd at the Katherine Show.

Victorian tourist Adam Rewuk did not realise he captured the image of the flying saucer over Katherine Gorge until he looked back over his photos after the trip.

"My Dad used to be a big UFO believer, so when I saw the picture, I thought of him," he said.

"I took the photo around lunch time, but I saw nothing in the sky. I didn't realise it was there until I saw the photo."

This beautiful Georgian country house, set in 80 acres, oozing tranquillity, was an idyllic and suitably impressive location for the grand theme of the Royal Society's satellite meeting on the 4th and 5th of October 2010, organised by Dr Martin Dominik, University of St Andrews and Professor John Zarnecki, from The Open University. Speakers and panellists were drawn from various countries, fields and groups, including SETI, NASA, Space Law, Geochemistry, Ecology, Planetary Sciences, Astronomy, Theology, Literature, History, Microwave sciences, Anthropology, Archaeology Linguist specialists, Space Technology, Evolutionary Developmental Systems Theorists, to name some, and I am sure I have not covered all the disciplines gathered. Some delegates also came from related areas such as Astrobiology. I was there as an observer, under the flag of the Exopolitics Institute, founded by Dr. Michael Salla PhD., 2005, to address serious questions arising from the social, diplomatic, political, economical and technical implications of an extra terrestrial presence on Earth, a field gaining ground world wide; the UK node is run by David Griffin.

US: 'Massive' black triangle UFO hovered low near West Seattle Bridge

A Washington witness watched a "black triangular object hovering motionless at a very low altitude" while riding a westbound bus over the West Seattle Bridge on October 6, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"It was getting late in the afternoon, but it was still sunny out," the witness stated. "Other planes were visible in the sky which was not unusual, as there are airfields in the general area (such as Sea-Tac), but none were close by the object. The object did not appear to move at all or interact with anything. It just remained stationary near an antenna tower. "

The object appeared at the same height as a nearby tower with one blinking red light.

"The object appeared at the same height as the blinking red light, and if you held out your hand, the object was about half the length of your index finger to the right of the red light. "

The object appeared to be hovering for the minute and-a-half sighting.

"It looked like it was as big as a 700-series Boeing plane, though a little more massive due to the fact that it was triangular in shape (rather than the usual thin tube with wings of your typical commercial passenger plane, which can easily be spotted at any given time in the skies above Seattle)."

The witness lost sight of the object when the bus cross over the brdige. The other passengers did not seem to notice the object, and the witness did not point it out to anyone for fear of being labeled "crazy."

US: Alabama witness gets close to triangle UFO: luminosity was 'sickly yellow-green'

An Alabama witness watched a slow moving triangular object 300 to 400 feet in altitude at 12:30 a.m. CT from a southwestern Birmingham suburb on October 4, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"Out of the corner of my eye and towards my left field of vision, I noticed a large optical blur- like a wave effect- directly over the constellation Cassiopeia," the witness stated.

"A triangular or, perhaps, wide wedge shaped object seemed to materialize into existence at that point against the star field. The exact shape was difficult to ascertain, because my eyes were dazzled by an absolute matte blackness which seemed to cloak the thing and travel with it, and was profound and visually confounding; but I was able to discern that it was roughly triangular in shape."

The witness described the object's luminosity.

"Each of its three blunt or rounded corners was steadily illuminated, but these stripes of luminosity did not seem mechanical. Rather, they appeared dim and phosphorescent, of a sickly yellow-green hue, reminiscent of a weak glow-stick."

The first sighting lasted between 8 and 10 seconds, but the object returned.

"About three minutes later, it (I assume it was the same object) proceeded back the way it came- this time at a much higher altitude and at an impossibly high speed. Had I not still been scrutinizing the sky, or had I even blinked, I would have missed it. This second time it was only recognizable as a distant black point of mass that blanked out the highest stars as it passed. Any object traveling at that speed should have (according to my understanding of Newtonian physics) produced a sonic boom, but it was, again, completely silent."

US: Texas witness estimates 'super ship' was 7,500 feet

A Texas witness in Port Aransas reports having his fourth UFO encounter in two months after spotting a "super ship" moving between clouds at 2:30 a.m. on October 5, then watching what appeared to be a white-blue "probe" with a red blinking light, and finally an object that moved up out of the ocean, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness drove from San Antonio to Port Aransas with his brother on the evening of October 4 in an SUV and arrived at Nueces Country Park for the night. The witness woke up at 2:30 a.m. and stepped out of the vehicle for a smoke.

"At an angle up from the horizon about 60 degrees facing northeast, I see what looked like a fast (grey in color) shadow move just above the clouds over my left shoulders into another cloud," the witness stated. "Thinking this was either a large bird or my tired eyes playing tricks, I ignore it."

But at 2:45 a.m., he looked again and saw a giant craft moving between cloud coverage he described as a "super ship."

"I quickly raise my right hand and simulate the shape, color, direction, size, speed and duration of the UFO event. Using my outreach right hand (about 6 inch long at 20 inches away from my eyes) and estimating the lower end of moving clouds to be 20,000 to 25,000, I measure this Super-ship to be 7,500 feet long, 3,750 feet wide, and 1,250 in height.

Driving to St. Louis from Des Peres, traveling south at I-270 at Kirkwood, I noticed an incongruent triangle of red lights at about 15 degrees off the horizon traveling west to east, my right to left.

The lights were fixed and appeared to be on a craft like a helicopter, but didn't have FAA helicopter navigation light colors nor blinking, all the lights FADED and brightened in unison about once a second.

It seemed like it could have been a large helicopter traveling adjacent to I-44, an east/west highway that intersected with I-270 about a mile or two from where I was when I first noticed it entering my field of vision.

As I traveled and exited on to I-44 east, the object appeared to move in a southeast direction as I was getting closer to it. It was about the "size" of a dime at the closest I saw it.

We had just finished eating a late dinner and were sitting at the picnic table outside of our camper.

We had attended a Penn State football game that afternoon and were spending the night at their campground which was located near the agriculture compounds.

I had been looking at the night sky and then I noticed what I thought, at first, was a Roman Candle. After looking at it for a second I realized several things:

1. It was not falling, it was soaring.

2. It was much larger than any Roman Candle.

3. It was a "orange-yellow" flame that was smaller at the front than the rear.

UFO sightings have increased in China, according to media reports. In a recent sighting, photography student Gu Peiwen closely examined a photo in his camera and shouted in disbelief: "I just caught aliens on camera!"

According to Shanxi News Net, it was near midnight on Sept. 22 as Gu and his friend were taking photos of the beautiful moonlight view of the ancient Pingyao City in north China's Shanxi Province, when Gu noticed a bright spot in his photo. He first thought it was a star, but could not find a star in that position when he carefully looked back up into the sky. Enlarging the photo, Gu found the bright spot was a flat object with two flashlight-like beams behind it.

Excited, both students continued to take more photos, hoping to track the object, invisible to the naked eye. The photos showed that it had lingered for about 40 minutes.

Comment: "If extraterrestrials were visiting the earth and interacting with humans, then I suppose that what they're doing would be something similar to what we do."

From what we see in the news and in the world today, that could very well be an apt depiction, only not the way that Pope is describing us. The way we treat livestock in feedlots comes strongly to mind. And then the industrial-military complex also comes to mind and how we humans are treated by them.

Between 8 and 9 PM on September 22, 2010, I went outside and noticed a very bright, red pulsating light in the southwest, about 6 to 8 inches above the horizon, which I thought could have been a planet as it was so bright (after checking with an amateur astronomer friend, it could not have been Mars, which I initially thought it was).

The moon was full tonight, with not many stars out, and Jupiter wss plainly visible below and slightly to the right of the moon, as expected.

When I went outside again at 10 PM, the light had moved slightly eastward and upward at least half again its prior height above the horizon, and no longer appeared as a bright red color; it was rather white in aspect.

I ran inside for my binoculars and camera, and when I came back outside, it was moving in an east - northeast direction. The height relative to the horizon seemed to increase as it moved, likely because it was passing by my position.

When viewed through the binoculars, it was a grouping of three lights, 2 red and one white, which did not blink but remained constant. The two red lights were forward as it moved, with the white light trailing behind. I could not make out any shape corresponding to the lights.
