US: Slow moving Pennsylvania UFO under 600 feet

A Pennsylvania witness watched a slow moving object under 600 feet that silently crossed the sky with "four large, bright white lights and two blinking lights" on December 15, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The object was first observed moving about 5 mph and was "about 200 yards up" in the sky.

The witness stated that the object was larger than a plane.

"There were four large, bright, white lights and two blinking lights - one blue, the other red," the witness stated. "It continued to move very slowly and silently across the sky and as it approached the highway it sped up effortlessly to around 50 mph or so."

No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the MUFON report, which was filed on December 20, 2010. No images or video were included with the report.

A friend of mine at work watched this spectacular phenomenon through his video camera mounted on a tripod. I don't know what this is, or what/who is causing this phenomenon.

The similarity of this incident to the ones in the skies over other countries gave it the validity I needed to post this. Even if it's not contact from 'Dada-ists' from outer space, it's thrilling to watch.

To the best of my knowledge, this is either a genuine UFO or some really gorgeous natural mix accidentally merging technology with nature (It's possible we're looking at a planet?).

Comment: It is clear that the camera was not mounted on a tripod as is claimed in the text. The cameraman reveals this at about 1:00 by saying: "Look at my screen, but don't touch me, look at my screen."

This video most probably doesn't show an authentic UFO but a regular star.

Most probably, the used video camera was set to a very long shutter speed (long exposure time in each frame). This is a common function of video cameras which allows for collecting more light while filming dark scenes. Compare the effect with this and this amateur video on youtube.

The "worms" that can be seen are then the result of tiny hand/camera movements which are integrated over time by the camera in each video frame. Because the video frames last very long -- about half a second in this example -- this allows for a lot of hand movement, hence the long "worms".

The main evidence for camera/hand movements can be seen in the first 5 seconds of the video, as well as from 5:12 to 5:15. You can see that in each consecutive video frame, the orange light on the left of the screen has the exact same 'wormlike' shape as the star he is zooming in.

The various colors are caused by chromatic abberation of the starlight caused by the atmosphere. This video illustrates this by means of the star Sirius.

Australia: Be warned, Aliens hunt Top Enders

A dozen Territorians have been abducted by extraterrestrial life - and they are "just the tip of the iceberg", an expert on paranormal activity says.

Mary Rodwell, founder of the Australian Close Encounter Resource Network, said in her role as an hypnotherapist and counselor for people with paranormal encounters she has come across "at least a dozen people from the Northern Territory", who had experienced encounters with "non-human beings".

"I had people telling me they found strange little marks, bruises and scars on their bodies when they woke up in the morning.

"Many of the marks and scars fluoresce in ultraviolet light. They have time missing in their memory.

"People found themselves outside their house with all the doors locked from the inside, and they don't know how the hell they got there."

Ms Rodwell said many people did not want to go public with their encounters, fearing they would be laughed at.

Rendlesham Forest UFO mystery still leaves questions

Mark Murphy and model of capsule

Thirty years after claims that UFOs had been spotted in Rendlesham Forest, experts and enthusiasts still can't agree on what happened.

Mysterious craft and lights around the airbases of Woodbridge and Bentwaters in Suffolk were reported around 26/27 December 1980.

BBC Suffolk's Mark Murphy presented a special 30th anniversary radio show from the forest in December 2010.

Mr Murphy promoted his favourite theory, but questions remained.

Theories

Aliens from outer space, beings from another dimension, testing of secret military projects, a helicopter carrying something, light from Orford Ness lighthouse, pranks by airmen - just some of the theories of what happened when the bases were being used by the US Air Force during the Cold War.

The first reports relate to sightings of strange phenomena on 26 December. The second reports relate to lights on 27 December.

Nick Pope used to run the British government's UFO Project and he undertook a review of the incident in 1994.

He said: "The military is an inherently secretive organisation and if anything happens such as these theories about secret classified aircraft or drones, there certainly would have been scope to cover something up and that would have been the default position."

Armageddon-Fearing Pilgrims Flock To French Village

The mayor of a picturesque French village has threatened to call in the army to seal it off from a tide of New Age fanatics and UFO watchers, who are convinced it is the only place on Earth to be spared Armageddon in 2012.

Bugarach, population 189, is a peaceful farming village in the Aude region, southwestern France and sits at the foot of the Pic de Bugarach, the highest mountain in the Corbières wine-growing area.

But in the past few months, the quiet village has been inundated by groups of esoteric outsiders who believe the peak is an "alien garage".

According to them, extraterrestrials are quietly waiting in a massive cavity beneath the rock for the world to end, at which point they will leave, taking, it is hoped, a lucky few humans with them.

Most believe Armageddon will take place on December 21, 2012, the end date of the ancient Maya calendar, at which point they predict human civilisation will come to an end. Another favourite date mentioned is 12, December, 2012. They see Bugarach as one of perhaps several "sacred mountains" sheltered from the cataclysm.

"This is no laughing matter," Jean-Pierre Delord, the mayor, told The Daily Telegraph.

Flashback John Keel, demonologist extraordinaire

Image
© Unknown
John Keel, who died on July 3 aged 79, was a prominent American ufologist (an observer and chronicler of UFOs - unidentified flying objects) and the author of The Mothman Prophecies (1975), a book about paranormal phenomena which was made into a successful film starring Richard Gere.

One of ufology's most widely-read and influential authors, Keel became an original and controversial researcher, and is credited with coining the term MIB (Men In Black), sinister and threatening entities who assume human form to confront ufologists and UFO witnesses.

Of particular importance was Keel's analysis of patterns. His work on "windows" (specific hot spots of combined phenomenal appearances), "waves" (cyclic appearances of the phenomena) and the "Wednesday phenomenon" (the theory that a disproportionate number of UFO events occur on that day of the week) influenced scholars and followers of the genre alike.

In his much-acclaimed second book, UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse (1970), Keel suggested that many aspects of modern UFO reports, including humanoid encounters, often paralleled ancient folklore and religious visions, and directly linked UFOs with elemental phenomena.

"Ufology is just another name for demonology," Keel explained, and claimed that he did not consider himself a "ufologist" but a "demonologist"; as an early admirer of Charles Fort (1874-1932) he actually preferred to be called a Fortean, which covers a wide range of paranormal subjects.

A giant alien with size 440 shoes is among extraterrestrial beings encountered over the past 60 years, according to previously secret documents made public by the New Zealand Defence Force on Wednesday.

The reports, detailing "sightings" of unidentified flying objects and their operators, range from the downright wacky to the intriguing.

Accounts came from people in all walks of life, including air force personnel, commercial airline pilots and passengers on aircraft, and even a New Zealand prime minister took a close interest in one case.

The more than 2,000 pages of documents dating back to the early 1950s had not been due for publication until the year 2050, but were released after requests under freedom of information laws.

Many reports include sketches of flying saucers and aliens, one showing a human-like figure dressed in silvery material with a wide belt, helmet and visor.

One man wrote to a government department in November 1955 to say he had seen "many" flying saucers.

Thousands of secret reports on New Zealand UFO sightings have been released, detailing mysterious unexplained sightings from the public and military personnel.

The files include every witness account of unidentified flying objects reported to authorities since early 1952, including the infamous 1978 Kaikoura mystery.

Detailed in more than 2000 pages of files are letters from people who claim to be in touch with alien beings, sketches from witnesses and media reports.

Some of the earliest reports come from the president of the Civilian Saucer Investigation (New Zealand) group, Harold H. Fulton, thanking a witness who wrote to him about a sighting.

The witness had seen a "strange, bowl-shaped object that he saw fall from a clear sky".

"As the object fell it made a hissing sound, hit the wharf pier he was standing on and then bounced high and landed on a Government survey vessel," the letter said.

The Air Force has released thousands of top secret papers about UFOs.

More than 2000 pages of material dating back to the 1950s documents files of correspondence on apparent sightings from 1952 to 2009.

Communications about sightings began in 1952 when they were described as UFOs - unidentified flying objects. Later they were called UAS - unidentified aerial sightings.

The files contain reports by sightings of private individuals and military personnel; investigations by Defence and other departments and agencies into the reports; newspaper clippings on UFOs and letters from individuals who claim to be in touch with alien beings and craft.
