Believers, skeptics and the curious all gathered for an "out of this world" experience in Hidalgo County on Friday evening.
The Edinburg UFO Conference drew hundreds of people from all walks of life.
The main topic of discussion: UFO's sightings in the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.
Local expert Noe Torres told Action 4 News that South Texas is a "hotbed" of UFO sightings.
The McAllen-based author has also written several books about an alleged UFO crash near Nuevo Laredo in the 1940s.
Torres said hundreds of sightings are reported each year in an area between Corpus Christi, Laredo, Brownsville and McAllen.

"It wasn't attached to the ground or anything," explained Turner in an email to io9, "[it was] just lying there in the grass. I've shown the picture to a bunch of people and nobody has any idea what it is."
Turner described the mass as unusually soft, almost like jello, a characteristic he deduced by poking at it with a pen. Even though it didn't appear to be alive, Turner said he "didn't want to touch it or bring it home, since I just saw Prometheus, and know better than to get my face close to it."
Turner says he's done some really awkward web searchers in search of answers, including "Chtulu baby" and "mutated worms," but to no avail. We've done a little digging, too, and thus far have come up empty handed. So we're asking you, dear readers, to help us find the answer. Is this thing an animal, expired (my first thought, upon seeing this thing, was that it was a baby Marlboro from Final Fantasy)? Is it a plant - some weird root, perhaps?

Mrs Low, of Sandylands Road, was walking her border collie dog in Cupar at around 11.30pm when she saw a large feline creature running across the local school playground, close to the edge of town.
It comes weeks after a 'big cat' was also apparently spotted a few miles away over the hill near Ceres and follows years of sightings around the country.
Mrs Low told The Courier: ''I was walking my dog near the cemetery and I happened to glance over. I saw a huge black cat leaping from the Ceres end of the playground at Castlehill Primary School and running very fast towards the town end.
''It was definitely bigger than a normal cat and looked to me like a black puma.''
Mrs Low said she had read about various sightings across Fife and beyond over the years but was ''taken aback'' to see something for herself - particularly when she regularly walks her dog at night when few other people are about.
She added: ''It unnerved me a bit. A neighbour told me that some carcasses were found in the woods up towards Ceres (the Moor Road) a few years back. I wonder if anyone else has seen anything.''
Comment: This video is rather short and unstable. You can see the object/s in the first few seconds fairly clearly. The report is very interesting as there is another object being towed (the witness says there were 4 objects) with the boomerang craft ejecting orbs.
We are facing a case that suggests many others being hitherto concealed, due to cattlemen's fear of being exposed to public scorn and ridicule.

The object seems to be spinning and is very high in the sky. The man who made the video refers to more than one object, but only one is shown in this video.
Either the craft blinks out a few times, or it's a trick of light caused by a shaky camera hand. If it does just blink out, going completely dark, it would make for a very dangerous obstacle in the air to other planes, jets or helicopters.
San Antonio is a thriving city with plenty of civilian and military aircraft passing overhead, day and night. So why were these witnesses so surprised?
The video is labeled in Chinese and details are light on the channel. It's not clear where this was filmed, but the sky is alive with moving objects, so it's probably not a remote area.
One of the flashing orbs picked up by the night vision infrared video camera can't be distinguished at the distance it's flying, but the regular, flashing light means it's more than likely an airplane, helicopter or jet. It's what happens next which is hard to explain.
As the UFO passes by, a flash of light drops away from its body. If it is a conventional aircraft, what happened to it? It's a very strange sight and a lucky catch.

Charlotte Wearing, 16, got a big shock when a picture she took in the family backyard showed a man wearing a top hat and cape amongst the bushes.
The man, who has been nicknamed Jack, has visited the family home in Ward Green Barnsley regularly over the last four years.
Charlotte was taking a picture of a wood pigeon in the garden when she made the discovery which stunned her family, her mother Gillian said.
She said: 'When she came down the stairs, her face was white and she was tapping the iPad because she'd got Jack.'
Charlotte has also seen a woman in a blue dress and shawl holding a baby in her parents' room last year.
Gillian believes the pair might be linked to Jack in some way.
Now a paranormal researcher with his own channel claims he was unable to relocate the unidentified flying object, implying that the crucial frames in the original sequence have been removed intentionally. What's it all about?
The whole issue started on Friday after a video on YouTube showed a round object floating near Neumayer Station, an Antarctic scientific research station at the South Pole. Most dismissed it as a weather balloon, but none could explain why the object appeared in just a few frames.
