Voting with your dollars: Monsanto's profits drop 25%

monsanto vs organic
The biotech giant Monsanto just released quarterly earnings statements noting that their profit has fallen by 25 percent compared to the previous year. In the last year alone, the overall value of Monsanto stock has seen a similar downward spiral, falling by nearly 30 percent since the end of Q1 2015.

Last quarter, net income was $1.06 billion, or $2.41 per share, compared to $1.42 billion, or $2.92 per share, in the same period a year ago.

Total sales for the agricultural behemoth have plummetted by double digits in the last year as well.

While Monsanto blames this downward trend on farmers cutting back on spending while being squeezed by plummeting commodity prices, they fail to mention that this trend is only within the biotech realm.

High levels of endocrine-disrupting chemicals found near fracking wastewater disposal sites

Fracking is causing more disruptions than just earthquakes in West Virginia, according to a new study. The chemicals in leaked wastewater created from hydraulic fracturing is causing negative health effects there ‒ specifically when it comes to fertility.

Researchers at the University of Missouri announced on Wednesday that they had found high levels of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in surface water near a fracking wastewater disposal facility near Fayetteville, West Virginia.

"We found levels of these endocrine disrupting chemicals high enough to threaten health," Susan C. Nagel, director of the study and an associate professor of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, told Buzzfeed.

EDCs can interfere with hormones in animals and humans. They can also cause cancer, birth defects, and developmental disorders, according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Comment: It's interesting to note that even with the numerous studies showing the deleterious effects on health and the environment from fracking, researchers are still reluctant to annoy the powerful O&G industry and feel the need to insert caveats saying that more research must be conducted to 'prove' their conclusions.

Addictive behavior related to low levels of oxytocin

oxytocin
The more we understand how nature works, the more we realize just how complex, intricately balanced and ingenious its systems are. One aspect that we are currently gaining more insight into is the human body's ability to produce natural chemicals and their effects on our general wellbeing.

Oxytocin is a hormone secreted by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, a pea-sized structure located at the base of the brain. It is often referred to as a natural love chemical because it is pumped into our bodies when we experience love. It promotes bonding, trust and attachment. It enhances the connection between mother and baby when it is released in high doses during childbirth, and is responsible for the magical seeming way a mother's breast instantly releases milk at the sight or sound of her infant. It also deepens the sense of union between couples at orgasm.

Stressors that destroy your body, posture, & happiness

stress

The content of this article is from an in-depth interview with Dr. Steve Hoffman. These are Dr. Hoffman's words.

Physical Stress: Damaging Movement

Damaging movement occurs when you use your body inefficiently and cause unnecessary stress and strain on your musculoskeletal system. Simply reaching to get a glass out of a cabinet incorrectly eventually causes overload in your neck and shoulder muscles that lead to pain, headaches, and more. Pain is stress and the stress message equals body breakdown. The stress response related to pain is well documented and even affects your ability to think clearly.

But interestingly, you don't have to have pain to have physical stress. A blocked or stuck joint can do the same thing, as well as any joint that is not in good alignment with its neighbour.

The central nervous system (CNS) likes it when your joints are in their most balanced and congruent positions. And as a bonus when you have good alignment, you experience much less damage if an unexpected load hits your system (like a fender bender or a trip and fall).

With good alignment and muscle balance, you can more easily dissipate that force so you don't get injured, or at least not as severely.

There are no schizophrenia genes

Genetic theories of schizophrenia were popular in the early part of the 20th century. They were built on 19th century concepts of eugenics that assumed a "tainted" gene pool that underpinned insanity, idiocy, prostitution, alcoholism, epilepsy and all other forms of physical or psychological "deviance".

Psychiatric geneticists of the period laid the foundation stones for what is now known as "quantitative genetics", using studies of families, twins and adopted children to estimate the amount of variation in a trait such as schizophrenia that could be attributed to genes. That early work, which was reinforced by that of eminent eugenicist psychiatrists, such as Franz Kallmann and Eliot Slater after World War Two, led ultimately to large estimates of the "heritability" of schizophrenia, typically around 80%, which were assumed to leave little room for social causes of the disorder.

France to ban glyphosate-tallowamine weedkillers amid health concerns

glyphosate
France's health and safety agency is poised to ban weedkillers that combine chemicals glyphosate and tallowamine because of concerns over possible health risks, it said Friday.

The ANSES agency sent a letter this week to manufacturers informing them that it intends to withdraw the authorization for such products, Francoise Weber, the ANSES deputy director-general, told Reuters.

The agency had reviewed products combining glyphosate and tallowamine after conclusions published in November by the European Food Safety Agency suggested there were greater potential health risks in combined use rather than when glyphosate is used alone, she said.

"It is not possible to guarantee that compositions containing glyphosate and tallowamine do not entail negative effects on human health," Weber said.

Comment: Even when used according to the instructions, glyphosate and tallowamine-based products pose a great health risk to everyone and everything it touches:

An up-close and personal reason on why Vaxxed was sacked

vaxxed robert deniro
© 1080plus
Why was Vaxxed shut down?

The answer? Jane Rosenthal and her (ex) husband, Craig Hatkoff.

That's my opinion, my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Yes, there were other pressures on Robert De Niro. I know all about them. But Jane Rosenthal and her husband Craig are very, very tight with De Niro.

How tight?

From Crain's New York Business 2007: "Jane Rosenthal is the business brains behind the wheel of New York's most famous taxi driver: Robert De Niro. The duo, who founded Tribeca Productions in 1989, has produced 22 movies.

Comment: The scandal surrounding Vaxxed isn't over. It will draw the ire of the medical industrial complex where ever it goes.

All eyes on Africa: Yellow Fever is the latest viral outbreak fear-mongering campaign

immunization
Mosquitoes are once again in the news ... and so are vaccines. Angola, Africa is the site of the latest "outbreak," this time yellow fever. So far, at least 225 people have died, with over 1,600 reported cases. The outbreak is of particular concern as it first took hold in the nation's capital of 6 million people, Luanda, in December of last year.

Yellow fever - similar to Zika, chikunguya and dengue - is carried by the now globally dreaded Aedes aegypti mosquito. Unlike the knowingly inflated numbers of the mass hysteria that surrounded Zika, yellow fever has long been recognized as a source of mass casualties in the 40+ countries where it has appeared, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths annually.

Breatharianism: The practice of sustaining oneself without the need for food

breatharianism
Breathariansim refers to the practice of sustaining oneself without the need for food. This concept is not new; in fact, for thousands of years, various cultures around the world have written of this ability. In the third book of the Yoga Sutras, for example, approximately twenty-five siddhis are listed as having extraordinary abilities. This is a common theme throughout Buddhism, and various other spiritual traditions as well. Clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and many more are all special traits attributed to the siddhis, as is the liberation from hunger and thirst.
