Pediatricians recommending parents avoid feeding children under age of 1 fruit juice

Kids under the age of 1 should avoid fruit juice, older kids should drink it only sparingly and all children should focus, instead, on eating whole fruit, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The pediatricians' group previously advised against giving fruit juice to infants under 6 months, but expanded that recommendation given evidence linking juice consumption to tooth decay and to gaining too much or too little weight.

For older kids who are at a healthy weight, 100 percent juice is fine in moderation, but should make up less than half of the recommended fruit servings per day, the AAP says.

"We want to reinforce that the most recent evidence supports that fruit juice should be a limited part of the diet of children," says Steven Abrams, a professor of pediatrics at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin, and an author of the guidelines, which were published Monday in Pediatrics.

The science is not settled and there's no such thing as a safe vaccine

settled science
Vaccines are not "safe and effective." There is no such thing as a safe vaccine.

But you wouldn't know it to listen to the narrative being reported in the media. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the agency appointed to hold the final word on health and safety says, "Vaccines are safe and effective. The science is settled."

However, when asked for proof showing that vaccinated children are healthier than unvaccinated children, the so-called science-based CDC offers none, claiming that it would be immoral to do such a study, to withhold 'life-saving" preventatives from the population. "Trust us. Case closed."

But curious minds do not close and do not trust opinion without proof as infectious and chronic disease rates skyrocket in children. Concerned individuals who live by the Precautionary Principle want answers. They refuse to be the guinea pigs who offer up their bodies for experimentation.

Is this new Ebola outbreak just more hype?

biohazard medical care
News outlets are reporting a new Ebola outbreak in Africa. Here is a quick summary of the basic mainstream story—

The Huffington Post cites a World Health Organization (WHO) statement: four people are believed to have died from Ebola in the Congo.

There are 37 more "suspected cases."

Discussions are underway about using an "experimental vaccine" in the Congo.

WHO has declared the Ebola outbreak an epidemic.

There is an effort to find 400 people believed to have come into contact with the "suspected cases." Residents in the affected area of the Congo, the remote Bas-Uele province, are fleeing in fear.

That's it so far.

I've been around the block on the Ebola story a dozen times. Here are the issues the press isn't reporting—

Study finds risk of breast cancer increased from drinking small amounts of wine or beer

Women who enjoy beer or wine may want to reconsider ordering a second round - or even their first one - the next time they're at the bar, according to a new report which found that a small alcoholic beverage is all it takes to raise the risk of breast cancer.

The report from the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research, released Tuesday, found that drinking just 10 grams of alcohol per day - equivalent to one small glass of wine, an 8oz beer, or 1oz of hard liquor - raises the risk of breast cancer.

The increased risk was more profound in postmenopausal women (9 percent increase) than in premenopausal women (5 percent increase).

However, any risk posed by just 10 grams of alcohol is big news, as the average alcoholic beverage (like a 12oz beer can) typically contains around 14 grams.

Comment: The problem with these studies is that they are all full of weasel words like "could, might, may". In other words nothing conclusive has been proven and no causal link has been established. Take the time to track down the actual studies and read the section called "Discussion", where the researchers bare their souls and tell the truth about what they actually found.

Transgender mania: Demand for gender reassignment surgeries is skyrocketing in US

transgender surgeries US
Dr. Loren Schechter says he's seen a dramatic increase in the number of transgender patients seeking surgery in the past few years. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported the number of gender confirmation surgeries for the first time, and found more than 3,200 procedures were performed in 2016
The first ever data on gender reassignment surgeries in the United States shows demand is skyrocketing.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons found a nearly 20 percent increase in vaginoplasties, phalloplasties, top surgery and contouring operations in just the first year of reporting.

In 2016, more than 3,200 surgeries were performed to help transgender patients feel more like themselves.

Surgeons in the field claim that figure is a conservative estimate - and would likely three times higher if all hospitals had a uniform way of documenting such surgeries.

And they believe celebrity transitions have been a driving force in this shift.

'It's only in the last couple of years that we've seen this dramatic increase in demand for procedures, it's certainly a subject that's more talked about,' Dr Loren Schechter a board-certified plastic surgeon who's been practicing gender-reassignment surgery for two decades, told Daily Mail Online.

Legal limbo: The uncertain future of marijuana's medicinal molecule - Cannabidiol

CBD oil

Cannabidiol (CBD) is widely touted for its health benefits, but its legal status is murky, and sometimes, the police come knocking at the door.

It began when U.S. postal workers in Alaska spotted an unidentified substance oozing from several packages. Upon inspection they found 1,000 leaky vials, some labeled, others not, of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) oil. A call went out to Alaska's Alcohol and Marijuana Control Board.

Concerned about the quality of unregulated products intended for human consumption and the potential risk to public safety, the Control Board came down hard on Alaska's fledgling network of marijuana dispensaries that retailed CBD hemp oil products. On February 9, 2017, law enforcement officers raided every cannabis storefront in Alaska — seven in the Anchorage area, one in Kenai, and two in Wasilla — seizing an assortment of hemp-derived CBD merchandise, including chocolate bars, chewing gum, and syringe-style applicators filled with dark, viscous oil.

Two G-men paid an uninvited visit to a shop called the Green Jar in Wasilla and cleared the shelves of $1000 worth of Charlotte's Web CBD hemp oil. "They took our product. They didn't give me any paperwork for anything they took," said Caleb Saunders, co-owner of the Green Jar, which had been selling CBD hemp oil for half a year without government interference.

Some 1,500 CBD products were seized during the multicity anti-drug dragnet. The problem, according to state officials, is that these CBD oil products ran afoul of state law, which requires that all cannabis commodities be manufactured, tested, and marketed in accordance with seed-to-sale tracking rules as stipulated under Alaska regulations. The hemp-derived CBD came from out of state and was not packaged or labeled correctly.

Proinflammatory, immunotoxic, neurotoxic and cytotoxic: The case against foods containing toxic lectins

beans, seeds, lectins
While whole foods are healthy, there are certain caveats to consider even here. Lectins (not to be confused with the phospholipid lecithin) are carbohydrate-binding proteins that are widespread in the plant kingdom. An estimated 30 percent of fresh foods contain lectins.1

Even dairy contains lectins. Grass fed butter is an exception. Grass fed milk is also lower in lectins than grain-fed milk, thanks to higher amounts of SlgA, an immunoglobulin that binds to lectins.2 Lectins get their name from the Latin word legere, from which the word "select" derives — and that is exactly what they do: They select (attach to) specific biological structures that allow them to do harm, as part of the plant's self-defense mechanism.

It's nature's ingenious way of keeping natural enemies like fungi and insects at bay. Unfortunately, some of these glycoproteins may also cause trouble in humans. Lectins were first discovered in castor bean casings, which contain the lectin ricin. Ricin is so toxic that a dose the size of a few grains of salt can kill an adult if injected or inhaled.

The Somali measles outbreak in Minnesota reveals further deceptions of the medical establishment

measles infection
Measles Mortality Rates and How the Medical Establishment Deceives Us Concerning the Efficacy (and Safety) of Vaccines

"During the last 10 years, there has been one death from measles, but that patient was an adult woman who was on immunosuppressive medications and had other serious health problems. (But between) 2000 and 2017, there were 156 deaths related to the MMR vaccine." — David Brownstein, MD - Holistic Family Practitioner

"Up to 90% of the total decline in the death rate of children between 1860-1965 because of whooping cough, scarlet fever, diphtheria, and measles occurred before the introduction of immunisations and antibiotics." - Archie Kalokerinos, MD

"According to the records of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, from 1911 to 1935 the four leading causes of childhood deaths from infectious diseases in the U.S.A. were diphtheria, pertussis, scarlet fever, and measles. However, by 1945 the combined death rates from these causes had declined by 95% before the implementation of mass vaccine programs." — Harold Buttram, MD
Critical thinkers and knowledgeable readers who have no ulterior motivation to blindly promote current over-vaccination agendas will agree that the Somali parents who have witnessed the devastating epidemic of Autistic Spectrum Disorders decimate so many of their children since coming to Minnesota, made a wise choice in refusing MMR vaccinations.

The violence-inducing effects of psychiatric medication

Psychiatric Disorders
© DreamstimeConceptual brain image; psychiatric disorders.
On May 17, 2017, we learned that Chris Cornell of Soundgarden had reportedly committed suicide by hanging. His family reports knowing a different Chris than one who would make this fatal decision, and suspect his anti-anxiety prescription in the altered state he was witnessed to be in the night he died. Perhaps an "addict turned psychiatric patient," like so many, Chris Cornell seemed to have left the frying pan of substance abuse for the fire of psychiatric medication risks.

For reasons that remain mysterious, those under the influence of psychiatric medication often specifically choose to hang themselves in their moment of peak impulsivity. Some, like Kim's husband Woody who was never depressed a day in his life but prescribed Zoloft by his internist, even verbalize a felt experience of his head coming apart from his body in the days before he was found hanged in his garage.

Then there's 14 year old Naika, a foster child in Florida who hanged herself on a FB livestream after being treated with 50mg of Vyvanse, a drug treatment for ADHD that leads to a domino effect of diagnoses and psychiatric meds including a 13 fold increase in likelihood of being prescribed an antipsychotic medication and 4 fold increase in antidepressant medications than controls.1

Are these just rare anecdotes? Is this just the cost of treatment that is helpful for most? Are we blaming medication for what might have been severe mental illness that was undertreated and/or undiagnosed?

Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, ADHD, major depression, anxiety disorders -- there is a rising epidemic of 'madness' in America. Nearly 78 million Americans take psychiatric drugs and there are over 6 million people rendered permanently disabled by a psychiatric disorder. What was once viewed as a temporary emotional and psychological crisis has now become a lifelong illness that is only treatable with psychiatric medications. One has to wonder, when it comes to psychotropic drugs, is the cure worse than the illness? A review of the scientific literature shows quite clearly that it is our drug-based paradigm of care that is fueling a modern-day plague that comprises of debilitating and worsening psychological symptoms, an inability to work, disastrous medication side effects, altered mental functioning and brain shrinkage.

On this episode of the Health and Wellness show we take a closer look at the ill-advised biological notion of mental illness, 'magic bullet' drugs and their ill effects and how the course of a so-called mental illness is different depending on where you live. Join us as we explore how psychiatry and Big Pharma pushed the chemical imbalance myth that took hold of the public mind and set the world on the road to crazy town.

Thousands of Brits contract the 'Brexit virus' from contaminated pork

Tens of thousands of Britons are being infected with a potentially life-threatening virus by pork imported from the EU, according to doctors.

The number of people affected by the HEV virus, dubbed the 'Brexit virus', tripled between 2010 and 2015, according to Public Health England.

Although it tends to induce flu-like symptoms, the number of people experiencing serious illnesses rose from 368 in 2010 to 1,244 in 2016.

"The number of HEV cases tripled from 2010 to 2015... with a trend towards more severe and prolonged illness," said scientists from Public Health England in a paper.

The deadly strain of the HEV virus, which infects 60,000 Britons per year, has been traced back to pig farms in France, Holland, Germany, and Denmark.

The virus is most likely to target those with weaker immune systems, such as transplant patients and pregnant women.
