The nullah overflowed and created a flash flood, which swept away four of them.
Four people, including three children, drowned after a flash flood triggered by heavy rain hit a hilly area in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district while they were returning from a temple.

Balram Dhruv (45), Mitan Dhruv (5), Muskan Dhruv (13) and Gauri Dhruv (13), all from the same family, were returning with several others from the popular Bhanwartank's Marhi Mata temple.

"The temple is located in the plains below a hill... But the road to the temple is two kilometres long and not motorable during the monsoon season. So, devotees walk their way to the temple on the zig-zag road down the hill. There is also a nullah flowing down the hill," said a police officer, adding that this was the first time that such an accident had taken place in the area.

Weather Channel reports "record-breaking cold" for August in US

climate crisis code red
It must be extraordinarily difficult for leftist corporate media outlets and woke government weather forecasters to admit "record-breaking cold temperatures" or "unseasonably cool air" across parts of the Lower 48 - in August of all months.

August is the prime season when far-left climate NGOs and their political allies, amplified by their MSM propaganda megaphone, usually try to convince everyone of an alleged climate crisis....

But the narrative of imminent doom for planet Earth unless cow farts, gas stoves, 2-stroke weedwhackers, petrol-powered vehicles (MSM always forgets to talk about Bill Gates, Al Gore, and Democrats flying around in private jets) are banned.

Early snowfall hits Poland's Tatra mountains as temperatures drop to - 3°C

mmmmmm
Snow fell continuously from Saturday night into Sunday as temperatures dropped to - 3°C in Poland's High Tatras mountains, particularly on Kasprowy Wierch, home to the upper cable car station and a meteorological observatory.

According to Euronews (French edition), the Arctic air mass sweeping across Poland over the weekend brought an unusually sharp chill, signaling the arrival of an especially early winter.

At the summit of Kasprowy Wierch (1,987 meters), temperatures dipped to - 3°C overnight, accompanied by snowfall. While snow can occur at the highest Polish peaks in any month of the year, the last recorded August snowfall was in 2010. An even earlier occurrence was noted in July 2011.

Sloth bear kills man in Maharashtra, India

mmmmmm
Arun Kukse, the 65-year-old man who was attacked by a sloth bear at Junona on Saturday evening, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nagpur on Monday.

The bear, who suffered severe injuries after villagers attacked it with stone and sticks, also died late Sunday night at the Transit Treatment Centre (TTC) in Chandrapur. Kukse's son Vijay, who too was mauled by the animal while trying to save his father, remains in a critical condition at Chandrapur GMCH, officials said.

The attack occurred on the forested outskirts of Junona under jurisdiction of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra. Villagers tried to rescue the father-son duo by attacking the bear with stones and sticks, causing grave injuries to the animal.

Forest officials, accompanied by a veterinary officer and NGO activists, later tranquilised the bear and shifted it to the TTC, but the animal did not survive beyond 24 hours.

Villagers have appealed to authorities to implement stringent safety measures, including proactive patrolling and quicker response systems, to prevent any such incidents in future.

More than 25 waterspouts spotted over Great Lakes this weekend as outbreak continues

MMMMM
It was a big weekend for waterspout sightings on the Great Lakes. More than 25 of these whirling funnels made up of air and mist were seen snaking across our big lakes on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Toronto-based International Centre for Waterspout Research.

And more are expected to spin up today. In fact, conditions favorable for waterspout creation are expected to last through Tuesday - maybe even Wednesday - across the Great Lakes.

But these whirling waterspouts carry some potential for danger, especially if you are close by or on the water. So boaters and even swimmers should stay aware of their surroundings if waterspouts are in the forecast, the National Weather Service said.

If you see one? Move away from the waterspout's direction of travel at a 90-degree angle. And if you're in a boat and see one, it's best to head to the closest harbor until it dissipates.

"We have confirmed at least 25 waterspouts / funnels over the Great Lakes on Sunday, August 24," the research group said early today. "More reports being investigated. Waterspouts continuing through to Tuesday."

Rare hooded seal from the Arctic spotted in Ostend, Belgium

mmmmm
A young hooded seal, a species that mainly lives in the Arctic, has been spotted on the beach in Ostend. It's only the fifth time that a hooded seal has been spotted on the Belgian coast. According to experts, its arrival is another warning that climate change is affecting the Arctic.

Last Thursday, a walker on the beach in Ostend took a photo of a seal, which he posted in a Facebook group the following day. It turned out to be a young hooded seal, a seal species from the Arctic region.

"The hooded seal mainly lives around Greenland and in northern Canada," Jan Haelters from the Institute of Natural Sciences told VRT NWS. "So the animal was very far from home."
