One excavator, 10,000 bodies, a sea of rubble: Inside Gaza's effort to retrieve and bury its dead

Under the relative calm of a ceasefire, Civil Defense crews in Gaza are undertaking the monumental feat of recovering thousands of bodies still trapped under the rubble.

Fatima Salem waits outside anxiously, as rescue crews dig through the rubble of her family's home in Gaza City on December 15th. With bated breath, she clings to the hope that all 60 of her family members - brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren - who were buried under the rubble after an Israeli airstrike targeted their building, will be rescued.

But this was not a typical rescue operation, and Fatima was not waiting for signs of life. She knew everyone was dead. That's because the airstrike on her family's home happened almost exactly two years ago, on December 19, 2023, just two months into the genocide.

Best of the Web: Criminally-convicted immigrant under deportation order stabs 3 women on Paris metro - Deportation failed 'because he had no travel document'

paris metro stabbing police
The suspect in the stabbing of three women on the Paris metro has been moved to a psychiatric hospital after being released from custody, prosecutors announced Saturday. The 25-year-old man is accused of attacking the victims at separate locations along the Line 3 metro track. The victims' injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect in the stabbing of three women in the Paris metro was released from custody and moved to a psychiatric hospital, prosecutors said on Saturday.

The man was arrested suspected of stabbing three women in the Paris metro on Friday as the capital's end-of-year festivities were in full swing.

The three victims were attacked at three different locations along the Line 3 metro track that runs across central Paris. They were injured, but not critically.

Continued police custody was not appropriate for the suspect because it is "considered incompatible with the state of his health", the prosecutors' office said.

UK politics teacher reported to terrorism investigators for showing students Trump videos: 'Dystopian'

A UK teacher said he was reported to government counter-terrorism investigators and forced to resign just for showing high school senior-age students videos of President Trump.

The politics teacher at Henley College in Oxfordshire, northwest of London, told the Telegraph he was accused of causing "emotional harm" to the students, who were all 17 or 18 years old — with child protective services suggesting he could be guilty of a "hate crime."

"They likened me to a terrorist. It was completely jarring," the teacher, who asked for his name not to be used, told the paper.
"It's dystopian, like something from a George Orwell novel."

Comment: UK is so deep in censorship that it seems there is no hope for any sanity. But maybe there is a spark:

Funding fraud: Bombshell report exposes network of Somali-linked "empty" daycares across Minnesota

omar walz somali illegal alien
Congressman Ilhan Omar and Governor Tim Walz seem to be very friendly with Minnesota's illegal alien population. Both are seen with Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, who has since been deported.
Left-wing Governor Tim Walz, under intensifying federal pressure, faces a widening Somali-linked fraud scandal in Minnesota. Federal prosecutors state that the scheme currently totals at least $9 billion, with the final figure potentially much higher. Recent reporting by Ryan Thorpe and Christopher F. Rufo alleges that some welfare funds were funneled into an overseas terrorist organization. Now, a bombshell video from a citizen journalist suggests the fraud extends beyond Medicaid into the state's daycare system.

A 42-minute bombshell video by journalist Nick Shirley and a local private investigator documents an on-the-ground investigation in Minneapolis that alleges massive, ongoing fraud in government-funded social services. The main focus is on Somali-owned businesses in child daycare, adult/autism care, home healthcare, and non-emergency medical transportation programs that draw from the taxpayer-funded Child Care Assistance Program.

Shirley claims his team uncovered more than $110 million in questionable payments to Somali-owned businesses on just the first day of their investigation, as part of a broader welfare fraud scandal totaling upwards of $9 billion.

'Incredible victory': Federal judge prohibits trans-related grooming efforts in California schools

Judge Roger Benitez issued a permanent injunction against policies that require educators to keep parents in the dark or indulge gender delusions.

Democrat policies proudly championed in California by Gov. Gavin Newsom have for years kept parents in the dark about their children's mental health and personal circumstances — particularly about whether their kids are masquerading as members of the opposite sex at school and undergoing a so-called "social transition" with the help of school staff.

Unwilling to lie to parents in violation of their faith and ethics, and facing the prospect of retaliation or dismissal over their dissent, Christian educators Elizabeth Mirabelli and Lori West filed a lawsuit in 2023 with the help of the religious liberty group the Thomas More Society. By October, their legal challenge targeting secretive, grooming transgender policies across the state had evolved into a class-action lawsuit involving other adversely impacted teachers as well as parents.

U.S. District Court Judge Roger Benitez delivered Democrat officials and other gender ideologues a big upset on Monday, ruling in favor of the plaintiffs and against the grooming regime. He noted at the outset of his 52-page ruling that long before the advent of compulsory education in the U.S., "parents have carried out their rights and responsibility to direct the general and medical care and religious upbringing of their child."

"It is a right and a responsibility that parents still hold," said the judge.

Megyn Kelly said Bari Weiss, Ben Shapiro are 'making antisemites' - ADL goes ballistic

Ben Shapiro and Megyn Kelly
Ben Shapiro and Megyn Kelly
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is furious with journalist Megyn Kelly after she accused prominent Jews in the media - Ben Shapiro and Bari Weiss - of "making antisemites" through their attempts to censor criticism of Israel."

(If you don't care about any of these people, feel free to stop reading here... fair warning)

To bring you up to speed: Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, podcaster Candace Owens pointed the finger at Israel, suggesting that Kirk's shifting views on Israel made him a target - and suggesting that Israel and France plotted Kirk's death. This drew sharp criticism from the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro (Owens' former boss), journalist Bari Weiss, and the ADL - with Shapiro further accusing Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson of amplifying 'antisemitism' by platforming Owens and refusing to condemn her claims, while Kelly says attempts to censor criticism of Israel is in fact 'making' people into antisemites.

Bongino: FBI hunting down members of online abuse network 764

764 online child abuse grooming
© Vernon Police DepartmentAn undated photo found by Vernon, Connecticut, police on the devices of a 17-year-old girl associated with the online network 764 shows a Barbie Doll marked with "764."
The 764 network comprises 'Nihilistic Violent Extremists' who support the production and sharing of child sex abuse material and extreme gore media.

The FBI is in the process of pursuing members of the 764 criminal network, Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a Dec. 12 post on X.

The 764 is a violent network, operating within the United States and around the globe, that methodically targets and exploits minors, according to the FBI.
"These networks use threats, blackmail, and manipulation to coerce or extort victims into producing, sharing, or live-streaming acts of self-harm, animal cruelty, sexually explicit acts, and/or suicide," the FBI stated. "The footage is then circulated among members of the network to continue to extort victims and exert control over them."
Bongino wrote on X: "We are hunting down the members of the 764 network with unprecedented arrest numbers, and a tireless focus on developing new investigative leads with our state, local, and global law enforcement partners.

Here's why Facebook is a cesspool of scam ads

mark zuckerberg facebook scams investigation
© Associated PressLawmakers have called on Mark Zuckerberg to face a federal investigation over the scam ads.
It's making billions off its phony 'tax' on fraudsters

Facebook now accounts for the vast majority of scams on social media, according to an explosive new study — and critics claim it's because Mark Zuckerberg's tech giant is more focused on making money than protecting customers, The Post has learned.

Last year, Meta forecast it would earn $16 billion — or 10% of its revenue — by running scam ads, according to bombshell documents obtained last month by Reuters. Critics say the eye-popping number confirms that fraud has effectively become a core part of the company's business — especially at Facebook, which boasts more than 3 billon monthly active users.

The documents revealed Meta bans accounts only if its systems flag an at least 95% chance that they are committing fraud — an absurdly high bar that invites fraudsters with minimal policing, critics say. What's more, the more suspicious the ad buyer, the higher the fees for posting ads — a supposed deterrent to bad behavior which instead amounts to "pay to play," experts say.

Gazans are taking matters into their own hands by launching community reconstruction efforts

Abu Ahmad, a displaced resident of northern Gaza, thought he would be living with some sort of roof over his head by now. Instead, he and his family remain exposed to the cold and the rain with only a threadbare tent for shelter. He told Mondoweiss:
"When the ceasefire was announced, I believed I would finally be able to rebuild my home, or at least get a caravan to survive the winter. Instead, we only hear about plans and conferences. Nothing has actually changed."
Abu Ahmad's home now lies beyond the so-called Yellow Line, which cuts Gaza in half and has been progressively expanded by the Israeli army to cover larger swathes of land to fall under its control.

Almost two months into the ceasefire, international conferences on Gaza's reconstruction and frequent promises to rebuild have so far amounted to little. According to UN estimates, 25 hospitals are out of service, nearly 70% of housing units have been partially or completely destroyed, 85% of water and sewage facilities have been damaged, and 95% of schools are reduced to rubble.

Amid these conditions, humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials have entered at rates far below the agreed-upon amounts as part of the ceasefire deal. Gazans have characterized the present humanitarian situation as a "new form of genocide."

Comment: Will Gazans even get the chance? Without change and resolution, hope has nowhere to go.

Comer: The 'walls are caving in' on Tim Walz

TimWalz

House Oversight Chairman James Comer declared this week, "The walls are caving in on Tim Walz," as a federal probe into Minnesota's sprawling fraud scandal intensifies. Whistleblowers, mayors, and lawmakers now enter the fray, spotlighting waste in social programs that hammer everyday residents.

The fraud Comer described reaches far beyond accounting errors. Minnesota taxpayers now must endure cuts to basic services because billions of dollars earmarked for social programs vanished due to fraudulent schemes, most of which are tied to the state's Somali community. The scale of the fraud has forced state officials to slash budgets and shift costs to local governments, leaving mayors across Minnesota scrambling to maintain essential services like police protection, infrastructure maintenance, and emergency response without bankrupting residents through property tax hikes.

The House Oversight Committee is coordinating with federal agencies and preparing subpoenas for records and testimony to trace the money and identify the culprits.

Comer stopped short of demanding Walz resign but made it clear that the governor cannot escape accountability. "He deserves due process, and we're going to give him due process," Comer said.
