Bigotry on the rise: Over half of France doesn't want their child to marry a Muslim

Comment: Imagine if the headline were this: Over half of France doesn't want their child to marry a Jew. That would be fairly shocking, wouldn't it? Instead, bigotry like this against Muslims is the new normal. It's acceptable to hold opinions about Muslims that would be lambasted as disgustingly racist if they were in reference to Jews.

A survey gauging racist sentiment polled the French on how they would react if their children married Muslims and whether they think that there are too many Jews in France. The results have turned out to be shocking.

The provocative poll published in the French weekly Le Journal Du Dimanche (JDD) was commissioned by the Jewish Foundation of France. It was conducted over the course of 18 months by Ipsos which asked 1,000 random people questions. Furthermore the pollsters sourced additional respondents from the Jewish and Muslim communities to allegedly level the bias. Many regarded the questions to be inflammatory.

One of the questions to respondents was about their likely reaction should their children marry a person from another ethnic group or a person of the same sex. More than half of French respondents said they would not like it if their daughter-in law or son-in-law were Muslim.

People disintegrating: Females on the attack and acting like vampires in New Zealand

A number of people have been injured during a series of vampire-like biting attacks on New Zealand's North Island.

Over the past two days, a woman was accused of biting a man's neck so hard, her teeth cut through an artery, while another woman was arrested after allegedly chomping on a woman's ear.

Stuff.co.nz reports the two incidents on Saturday and early Sunday were unrelated.

"It was a fight between three females and during the fight one of the females has bitten another one's ear and drawn blood. She hasn't bitten it off, but quite badly so she needed some medical attention," a Hawke's Bay District Command Centre spokesman said of the first incident.

Comment: Certainly New Zealand isn't the only place to be experiencing such bizarrely violent behavior. Over the past few years we've heard other stories from around the world that resemble this one. So what's happening??

US whistle-blower and former spy agency contractor Edward Snowden is among the top candidates for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize which is awarded in Oslo, Norway. "2016 may finally be Edward Snowden's year ... His leaks are now having a positive effect," Kristian Berg Harpviken, head of the Peace Research Institute in Oslo told Reuters, putting him on top of his list of candidates.

In the wake of Snowden's leaks of details of the US government's spy programs, many countries have been reforming laws to restrict surveillance programs, helping human rights, Harpviken said.

Snowden began leaking classified intelligence documents in June 2013, revealing the extent of the NSA's spying activities, including the massive collections of phone records of Americans and foreign nationals as well as political leaders around the world. The US government has filed espionage charges against Snowden, who has been granted asylum in Russia.

Comment: The two Norwegian politicians, who have nominated Snowden, stated his revelations "revealed the nature and technological prowess of modern surveillance," and "contributed to a more stable and peaceful world order." "His actions have in effect led to the reintroduction of trust and transparency as a leading principle in global security policies. Its value can't be overestimated."

Nigeria: Militants blow pipeline, massive oil spill

Militant attacks in southern Nigeria on a major oil pipeline have caused a massive oil spill into surrounding areas. A spokesman for Italian ENI company, which is in charge of the oil operations in Bayelsa State, said on Monday that thousands of barrels of oil have spilled into waterways, farms and fishing grounds in the area after recent multiple attacks targeting the Agip oil pipelines.

The unidentified official said 16,000 barrels of oil per day were lost since explosions on Thursday and Friday which were blamed on militants who want a bigger share of oil revenues in the producing state. Fishermen in the region said oil flowed unabated for two successive days while a community leader said the spill was the biggest in years in the Brass local government area.

Militant attacks are less prevalent in southern Nigeria compared to northern territories where the Takfiri group Boko Haram have killed thousands over the past six years in a militancy that has hugely undermined the security in the region. Officials said on Monday in the latest such raids, at least 85 people were killed in a brazen attack by Boko Haram on Dalori village, located just five kilometers (three miles) from Maiduguri, the capital and the largest city of Borno State, in northeast Nigeria. Militants reportedly burned to death children after they firebombed huts during the raid on Dalori.

Similar attacks on installations and pipelines were reported last week in oil-producing southern states, with the government estimating the cost of the acts of sabotage at around $2.4 million a day.

The affected communities were Orukari, Golubokiri and Kpongbokiri and the explosions were triggered by dynamite.

Due to the inaction of state and federal officials, thousands of people in Flint have been exposed to unsafe levels of lead in their water. Now a group of union plumber are taking matters into their own hands.

On Saturday, 300 plumbers from unions across the country descended on Flint to install new faucets and water filters for free.


Comment: People can often come together and do things that need to be done, especially when their government is corrupt, criminal and useless.

Only in the twisted minds of NYPD officials would "more powerful weapons" be a solution to prevent their officers from killing people. Sadly, this is no joke. The NYPD recently announced that they are planning to stock more powerful and potent pepper spray, and they actually claim that this would be intended to prevent police from shooting people.

The potency that has been used by the NYPD and other departments previously is already highly dangerous with a concentration of just .21% capsaicinoids. The new spray will be concentrated at .67% which will undoubtedly be more dangerous and far more painful. The NYPD has already begun rolling out the new concentration and has equipped over 19,000 officers with the new mixture.

NYPD Deputy Chief, Edward Mullen, claimed in an interview with the Daily News that a higher concentrated pepper spray would help officers subdue unruly suspects more easily.

H&M and Next, two of Europe's biggest garment retailers, have found Syrian refugee children working in their supplier factories in Turkey, according to a report by a company ethics watchdog.

Of the 28 major brands questioned by the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRCC) about conditions at their supplier factories in Turkey and the potential exploitation of undocumented Syrian children and adults, only H&M and Next confessed to finding children working in the factories.

The admission has sparked concerns that the problem may be much more widespread and that many of the companies are keeping quiet about abuse.

Both H&M and Next said that after identifying the children they took action to return them to school and to support their families.

Comment: Exploiting a crisis to take advantage of defenseless, vulnerable children who have already experienced more horror than any child should endure is beyond reprehensible.

A singer from Portland, Oregon named James Twyman is heading on over to an ISIS-controlled, war-torn Syrian village to quote "serenade ISIS with songs of peace in a bid to defeat their savage regime" in a plan he has referred to as an "unprecedented spiritual experiment" but what may also be referred to as "suicidal" and/or "the worst idea anyone has ever had ever".

Comment: This is a prime example of an extreme lack knowledge and awareness. Not only did Twyman miss the memo that ISIS is fully funded creation of the US government, he obviously has no clue about psychopathy. You can't appeal to a psychopath's conscience. He doesn't have one. Sending buckets of love and light at a gang of murderous head-choppers will assuredly result in the opposite of what Twyman intends. He'll be lucky if he escapes with his life.

Maine Governor Paul LePage has a solution for, what he feels, is his state's lax punishment of drug dealers: "What I think we ought to do is bring the guillotine back."

Apparently, the recent proposal to jail drug traffickers for a minimum of four years wasn't quite draconian enough for LePage, as he told WMOV, "We could have public executions and we could even have, you know, we could even have [guessing] which hole it falls in." No further explanation was offered for that last part, but in the context, it would seem he was referring to executed an person's decapitated head.

LePage also called the ACLU the "worst organization in the State of Maine" for protecting the press and others who criticized him extensively this month for a rather astonishing comment made during a town hall meeting, which spoke volumes on his sudden call for a medieval death penalty:

Comment: Never mind that the incarceration rate for drug offenses has already spiraled way out of control and solved nothing, and never mind that the entire 'war on drugs' is a sham for reasons too many to enumerate here, it is individuals like Maine Governor Paul LePage who may ultimately be the most dangerous to the fabric of society that we have to be on the watch for.

This is the same guy who sought to remove a mural in the state Department of Labor building depicting the history of the labor movement. He is one of the pathocrats; a political animal and pathological fascist who is not only hopelessly out of touch with the average person and the issues that they are faced with, but spreads ideas that are mostly punitive in nature and do nothing to uplift the people he is sworn to serve.
