Western media set up North Korea for war

Image
Kim Jong-un, the young leader of North Korea
Western so-called news media coverage of the escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula is like watching a cross between a bad James Bond movie and a cheap horror flick about flesh-eating zombies.

It would be funny if the danger of war was not so serious and imminent. The disturbing direction of the Western media coverage is to set up North Korea - a poor impoverished country - for an all-out military attack by the world's nuclear superpower psychopath - the United States.

Paradoxically, this danger is being incited by "news" corporations that pompously claim to be free-thinking bastions of independent journalism, when in reality they are nothing more than progenitors of the worst kind of pulp fiction.

Kim Jong-un, the young leader of North Korea who took over from his late father in 2011, is being cast as an insane villain whose Western media persona resembles that of a putative Doctor Evil. His projected character is fit for a role in an early 007 movie.

If corporations don't pay taxes, why should you?

Go offshore young man and avoid paying taxes. Plunder at will in those foreign lands, and if you get in trouble, Uncle Sam will come rushing to your assistance, diplomatically, financially and militarily, even if you have managed to avoid paying for those government services. Just pretend you're a multinational corporation.

That's the honest instruction for business success provided by 60 of the largest U.S. corporations that, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis, "parked a total of $166 billion offshore last year" shielding more than 40 percent of their profits from U.S. taxes. They all do it, including Microsoft, GE and pharmaceutical giant Abbott Laboratories. Many, like GE, are so good at it that they have avoided taxes altogether in some recent years.

But they all still expect Uncle Sam to come to their aid with military firepower in case the natives abroad get restless and nationalize their company's assets. We still have a blockade against Cuba because Fidel Castro more than a half century ago dared seize an American-owned telephone company. During that same period, we have consistently intervened to maintain the lock of U.S. corporations on the world's resources, continuing to the present task of making Iraq and Libya safe for our oil companies.

Hugo Chavez depicted as tyrant for challenging western oil domination

Image

Venezuelan leader redirected vast sums of national wealth to the swollen ranks of Venezuela's poor.

Had Hugo Chavez followed the pattern of many Third World leaders and concentrated on siphoning off his nation's wealth for personal gain, he would have attracted little attention or animosity in the West.

Instead, he did virtually the opposite - redirecting vast sums of national wealth to the swollen ranks of Venezuela's poor, along with free health care and education. No wonder he alienated local elites, who are used to being first in line at the national trough.

Chavez's relentless championing of the downtrodden set a standard increasingly followed in Latin America. It explains his immense popularity with the masses and the widespread grief over his death last week.

Yet in the West, he was portrayed as a tyrant.

Scientific assassinations are part of the CIA's record

Image
The Guardian newspaper's self-proclaimed Venezuela expert Rory Carroll has glibly categorized serious charges that Venezuela's late President Hugo Chavez Frias was assassinated by a United States-produced bio-weapon as being in the same league with conspiracy theorists who wonder about aliens at Roswell and NASA faking the moon landings. A number of Venezuelan and international officials believe a hostile party covertly introduced an aggressive form of cancer into the 58-year old president.

Carroll also wrote that Chavez, himself, believed that the cancers that befell former leftist leaders of Latin America, including Argentine President Nestor Kirchner, diagnosed with colon cancer and Brazilian President Ignacio Lula da Silva, treated for throat cancer, were part of a CIA plot directed against left-wing leaders. Curiously, Carroll suggests that Uruguay's former leftist president, Tabare Vazquez, also recovered from cancer. In fact, Vazquez never had cancer. Furthermore, he is a renowned oncologist trained in France. It was Paraguay's former president, Fernando Lugo who was ousted in a 2012 CIA-backed right-wing coup, who was diagnosed with lymphoma, cancer of the immune system. Carroll simply proclaims that because all three ex-leaders recovered from cancer, there was nothing to the U.S. cancer assassination weapon story.

Carroll conveniently omitted the cancers that have struck other Latin American leaders, including Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, afflicted with thyroid cancer, and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, struck with lymphoma. After beginning peace talks with the left-wing Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Colombia's conservative president Juan Manuel Santos was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Venezuela to investigate Chavez murder allegations

Image
Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez (L) has said a special commission will investigate the death of Hugo Chavez
Venezuelan officials have said they will set up an inquiry to investigate suspicions that President Hugo Chavez was murdered by foreign agencies.

Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez told the BBC the United States and Israel were to blame for Mr Chavez's death.

He said he hoped the special commission would provide evidence.

Mr Chavez himself suggested he might have been injected by "foreign imperialist forces" after discovering he had cancer in 2011.

On an interview with BBC Mundo in Caracas, Mr Ramirez said he had no doubt that Mr Chavez's death was an act of confrontation and similar to Yasser Arafat's.

On the day Mr Chavez died, the Vice-President Nicolas Maduro also likened his case to the death of the Palestinian leader.

Lady justice, humiliation and John Brennan's heavy baggage

Image
© CIANew CIA Director John Brennan addresses officials at the Agency’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
After a messy confirmation - which asked new questions about drone assassinations and old questions about enhanced interrogations - John Brennan has taken over at CIA. But his past may not be so easily forgotten in a world looking for accountability, writes ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern.

John Brennan brings heavy baggage to his new job as CIA Director - legal as well as moral - arguably making it risky for him to travel to more than 150 countries that are party to the United Nations Convention Against Torture.

It must be hard for Brennan to recognize that he cannot land in Europe, for example, without fear of being arrested and arraigned for kidnapping (also known as "extraordinary rendition") and torture (now antiseptically called "EIT" for "enhanced interrogation techniques," which, by the way, is a direct translation of verschaerfte Vernehmungright out of the Gestapo handbook).

I Spit on Your Grave: Pro-Nukers spread death and pestilence - always

Image
[Editors Note...Something you might have missed...I did: ...May 17th, 2012... Japanese officials are currently engaging in talks with Russian diplomats about where tens of millions of Japanese refugees might relocate in the very-likely event that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility's Reactor 4 completely collapses. According to a recent report by EUTimes.net, Japanese authorities have indicated that as many as 40 million Japanese people are in "extreme danger" of radiation poisoning, and many eastern cities, including Tokyo, may have to be evacuated in the next few weeks or months to avoid extreme radiation poisoning... Jim W. Dean]

Introduction - (San Francisco) - Throughout history tyrants slaughtered innocent people without remorse. Pro-Nukers make them look like grade school children in comparison. We all know the tyrants names: Stalin, Hitler, Genghis Khan.

But, who knows the name of your local random murderer - your local Pro-Nuker? Killing is what Pro-Nukers do best. The numbers of the nuclear dead are astonishing. What's more, they've got your number, too. Which Humans?

For many sincere but superficial people everyone "has some good in them." How many times have you heard that trite phrase? It is as overtly stupid as it is blatantly untrue. For real evil we have only to look to the persons present in every country who are "Pro-Nukers."

For they are the today's embodiment of lasting evil throughout the centuries. Their hatred of fellow humanoids on this planet is a plague far worse than any disease. Normal humans with everyday emotions absolutely mystify them; therefore, the Normals must be controlled and obliterated.

The Pro-Nukers first pulled the trigger that annihilated more than One Billion 200 Million of us since Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Now they are only speeding up the killing, maiming and mutation of humans, animals and plants, in fact, of all life on the planet. The Earth is already fully consumed by their poisons. There is no cure; and, there is not even any medicine. That is an absolute.
All will perish, one point two billion (1,200,000,000.) already croaked. This was calculated by a genius mathematician and radiation expert named Sister Rosalie Bertell, a Catholic nun.

Human rights activists say men were executed by firing squad, but country's official news agency says they were beheaded

Saudi Arabia has executed seven men for an armed robbery, the interior ministry said, despite an appeal for clemency by United Nations human rights investigators.

The seven, some of whom were under 18 when the crime was committed in 2006, had been due to be put to death last week but were granted a stay of execution while authorities reviewed their case.

Human rights activists in Saudi Arabia said they had been executed by firing squad, but the country's official news agency said they had been beheaded. The original sentences called for death by firing squad and crucifixion.

Kashmir militants in deadly attack on Indian security forces

Five paramilitary soldiers and two suspected separatists dead after gun battle at empty school compound

Militants attacked a group of paramilitary soldiers on the outskirts of the capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, leaving five soldiers and two militants dead and 10 more wounded, a police official said. It was the bloodiest militant attack in the capital in years.

The soldiers were inside a school compound for the children of police officers when the insurgents attacked, officials said. No students or teachers were at the school because of ongoing strikes in the wake of the February execution of a Kashmiri militant.

Five of those injured were members of the paramilitary force, the central reserve police force, and five were civilians, said police official Manoj Kumar Shree.

Officials said earlier that the attack had occurred at a paramilitary camp, which is next to the school. By midday, the entire area was inundated with heavily armed soldiers searching for any surviving militants.

Google fined $7 million for 'Street View' privacy breach

Image
Google struck a deal with US authorities Tuesday to pay a $7 million fine for collecting people's personal data without authorization as it combed neighborhoods for its Street View service.

In a legal settlement with 38 states, the Internet giant agreed to destroy emails, passwords, and web histories it harvested from home wireless networks as Street View cars photographed neighborhoods between 2008 and 2010.

"This settlement addresses privacy issues and protects the rights of people whose information was collected without their permission," New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement.
