Best of the Web: Hillary confirms Saudi Arabia and Qatar fund ISIS in latest leaked 2014 email

Hillary Clinton and ISIS graphic
Over three years after we first reported that one of the two chief sources of funding and support for the "Islamic State" is the small but wealthy nation of Qatar, and long after we also announced that Saudi Arabia had revealed that it was behind ISIS, in a report that was widely disputed, overnight we finally got definitive evidence that it was indeed Qatar and Saudi Arabia that are the main "logistical and financial" supporters of the Islamic State terrorist organization.

In a leaked email sent on August 17, 2014 by Hillary Clinton to her current campaign manager, John Podesta, who back then was counselor to Barack Obama, she admitted that Qatar and Saudi Arabia "are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region."

The email, which was sent just days after the US launched its "temporary" air campaign in Syria, which has now extended over two years, represents an eight-point plan laying out ideas how to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Clinton's email said that the United States should engage in "military operations against these very irregular but determined forces" by "making proper use of clandestine/special operations resources, in coordination with airpower, and established local allies" such as Kurdish forces.

Comment: What a mess. It is clear this policy outline didn't work thus Russia had to step in to try and clean up the mess in Syria. Interesting that Lebanon and Jordan are mentioned frequently. King of Jordan lashes out: 'US thinks it knows the Middle East better than ourselves'.

Mainstream media handling of Trump sex comments exposes systemic bias and self-censorship in Killary's favor

trump
Caught on tape making shockingly crude comments about a married woman he tried to seduce, Donald Trump reeled under widespread condemnation Friday ... Donald Trump declared in a midnight video, "I was wrong and I apologize." Yet even as he did so, he claimed the astonishing recording was "nothing more than a distraction" and argued his words were not nearly as egregious as former President Bill Clinton's marital affairs. - ABC
On the Internet, a great deal of testimony exists regarding Bill Clinton's cocaine dealing in Arkansas and his serial rapes attested to by numerous women, but sexual banter by Donald Trump that occurred in a private conversation more than a decade ago is front page news - and Trump is supposed to resign because of it.

Republican politicians are making the request, as we learn from this ABC article, and other mainstream media coverage as well. To the best of our knowledge neither the mainstream media or many top Republicans have focused on the panorama of accusations regarding Bill Clinton.

Nor are they emphasizing Hillary Clinton's questionable statements and behavior as presented in numerous emails that have been leaked over the past week.

One can imagine that many in politics are intimidated by the Clintons, but that doesn't explain the attacks on Trump. True, he made statements in terrible taste about sexual issues and women in general, but these are, nonetheless, words, not actions.

'Lolita Express' flight logs show Bill Clinton ditched Secret Service 26 times to travel with known pedophile

An investigation into official flight records of financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's "Lolita Express" are once again dragging former President Bill Clinton into the national spotlight.

Flight logs obtained by Gawker in January 2015 put Mr. Clinton on the billionaire's infamous jet more than a dozen times — sometimes with a woman whom federal prosecutors suspect of procuring underage sex victims for Mr. Epstein. Fox News reported Friday that records show Mr. Clinton declined Secret Service protection on at least five flights.

The network's investigation reveals Mr. Clinton flew on the Boeing 727 "Lolita Express" 26 times, more than doubling the previously reported 11 trips.

"Bill Clinton ... associated with a man like Jeffrey Epstein, who everyone in New York, certainly within his inner circles, knew was a pedophile. Why would a former president associate with a man like that?" said Conchita Sarnoff of the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Alliance to Rescue Victims of Trafficking, Fox reported. Ms. Sarnoff also authored a book on Mr. Epstein titled "TrafficKing."

Mr. Epstein was arrested in 2005 and signed a plea agreement in 2007 with the U.S. Attorney's Office, accepting a single charge of soliciting prostitution. He agreed to a 30-month sentence, registered as a "Tier 1" sex offender with the U.S. Virgin Islands and paid dozens of young girls under a federal statute providing for compensation to victims of child sexual abuse.

A Clinton spokesperson did not return the network's emails requesting comment. Martin Weinberg, Mr. Epstein's attorney, declined multiple inquiries into the flights.

Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire pedophile who could bring down Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

Editor's note: This article has been updated to reflect the withdrawal of Virginia Roberts Guiffre's allegations against Alan Dershowitz and the striking of the allegations from the court record by a federal judge.

For Jeffrey Epstein and his famous friends, the Aughts were a simpler time, when the businessmen, academics, and celebrities who counted themselves among the playboy philanthropist's inner circle could freely enjoy the fruits of his extreme wealth and connections.

Epstein's little black book and flight logs read like a virtual Who's Who: Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Larry Summers, Kevin Spacey, Prince Andrew, and Naomi Campbell all hitched rides on Epstein's private planes. Socialites and distinguished scientists went to visit Epstein's island in St. Thomas, and cavorted at epic dinner parties at his palatial townhouse—then the largest privately owned residence in New York, as he liked to brag. There, they picked at elaborate meals catered by celebrity chefs like Rocco DiSpirito, marvelled at Epstein's opulent decor, and noted the pack of very, very young model-types with whom Epstein always seemed to surround himself.

But a darker story was going on underneath the glamour. In 2008, Epstein was convicted of soliciting sex from an underage girl and quietly paid settlements to scores of alleged victims who said he serially molested them. But the girls kept coming out of the woodwork—in 2014, another young woman filed a lawsuit claiming that Epstein used her as a sex slave for his powerful friends—and that she'd been at parties on his private island with former President Clinton.

And just last week, yet another "Jane Doe" filed a suit in New York accusing Epstein and Donald Trump of raping her at a series of sex parties when she was only 13.

Trump has denied Jane Doe's claims and his reps have said he barely knew Epstein—even though New York media in the '90s regularly chronicled his comings-and-goings at Epstein's Upper East Side palace, and even though Epstein had 14 private numbers for Trump and his family in his little black book. Meanwhile, Bill and Hillary Clinton have remained mum about their ties to the Palm Beach pedophile—despite evidence that shows Bill was one of the most famous and frequent passengers on Epstein's "Lolita Express" and that Epstein donated money to the Clinton Foundation even after his conviction.

For months, talking heads have wondered whether Trump would use Epstein and his girls as a weapon against Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Now, with the latest federal lawsuit against Trump himself, it seems the notorious financier has become a serious liability for both campaigns.

A fresh batch of emails from Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman and former counselor to President Obama, John Podesta, has been released by Wikileaks.

As many as 1190 new emails comprise part of the latest release, adding to the more than 4,000 emails from Podesta already released by the whistleblowing website. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange claims they are sitting on a trove of 50,000 messages.

Included in the release is an email chain from February 15, 2016 titled 'Pushback on immigration,' which shows a request for Ken Salazar, who was the US secretary of the interior from 2009 to 2013, to write an op-ed to smear Bernie Sanders' "professed support for immigration."

No surprise: Putin cancels visit to France amid Syria tensions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has canceled a planned visit to France after Paris shortened the program for the trip. The development comes amid increased tensions between Russia and France over Moscow's veto of a French UN Security Council draft resolution on Syria.

Putin was expected to arrive in Paris next week, but the visit has now been postponed, the Kremlin confirmed.

"There were some events scheduled, including the opening of a Russian cultural and religious center, [and] exhibitions. Unfortunately, those events were struck off the program, so the president decided to cancel his visit to France for now," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Jeffrey Epstein: A 'sex slave' scandal that exposed elite pedophile rings

In 2005, the world was introduced to reclusive billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, friend to princes and an American president, a power broker with the darkest of secrets: He was also a pedophile, accused of recruiting dozens of underage girls into a sex-slave network, buying their silence and moving along, although he has been convicted of only one count of soliciting prostitution from a minor. Visitors to his private Caribbean island, known as "Orgy Island," have included Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and Stephen Hawking.

According to a 2011 court filing by alleged Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre, she saw Clinton and Prince Andrew on the island but never saw the former president do anything improper. Giuffre has accused Prince Andrew of having sex with her when she was a minor, a charge Buckingham Palace denies.

"Epstein lives less than one mile away from me in Palm Beach," author James Patterson tells The Post. In the 11 years since Epstein was investigated and charged by the Palm Beach police department, ultimately copping a plea and serving 13 months on one charge of soliciting prostitution from a 14-year-old girl, Patterson has remained obsessed with the case.

"He's a fascinating character to read about," Patterson says. "What is he thinking? Who is he?"

Comment: Sexual predators rarely see anything wrong with their abuses and the System that covers up these activities, doesn't do much either. It would be great if these sub-humans were held accountable, but given the way they protect each other, we aren't holding our breath. The best protection we have for ourselves and our children is knowledge; a better understanding of how these predators operate and learning how to spot them. US missile defense shield in Europe is aimed against Russia - Chinese military

US soldier
© Peter Andrews / Reuters
US antimissile shield in Europe directly threats Russia, a senior-ranking Chinese general said as cited by RIA Novosti. He added that US actions across the globe disrupt the balance of regional power and provoke regional instability.

"The US did not provide legally-binding guarantees that the missile defense system they are deploying in Europe would not be aimed against Russia. But at the same time it poses a real and direct threat to the Russian security," the general reportedly said in a speech at the Xiangshan international security forum in Beijing.

The assessment is similar to that of the Russian military, which insists that the American antimissile shield in Europe compromises Russia's security and needs to be countered with better ballistic missiles and capabilities to destroy antimissile sites, should the need arise.

"China and Russia have similar positions about strategic antiballistic missile systems and oppose attempts by any nation or group of nations to create such systems unilaterally at the expense of strategic international security," the general said.

Norway says talks have begun with Washington over a "long-standing US wish" to deploy marines on the Nordic country's soil.

"Assessments have taken place within the military to look at the options for additional training, storage and this kind of thing," said Norwegian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Ann Kristin Salbuvik on Monday.

She stressed that the troops will probably be deployed on a rotational basis and that permanent deployment is not a question.

'US lackey': French politicians blast Hollande for reluctance to meet with Putin

French politicians sharply criticized French President Francois Hollande for remarks, in which he said he was uncertain whether he should meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in light of the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

On Sunday, Hollande told France's TMC Channel that was uncertain whether he should receive his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during his forthcoming visit to Paris.

"I asked myself the question ... Is it useful? Is it necessary? Can it be a way of exerting pressure? Can we get him to stop what he is doing with the Syrian regime?" Hollande told TMC on Sunday, adding that he "asks himself if he has to receive Vladimir Putin."

"If I receive him, I will tell him that [what Russia does in Aleppo] is unacceptable," he said, describing Russia' campaign in Aleppo as a "war crime."

"Those who commit these acts will have to pay for their involvement, including at the International Criminal Court," he added.
