Russia reportedly deploying Chechen special forces battalions to Syria

Rare footage released by Russia TV this week, revealed to the world that Russian special forces units are already on the ground in Syria, actively engaged in combat operations alongside the Syrian army in the war against terrorism. And if the recent Russian Izvestia news report is true - more elite soldiers are on their way.

Two of Chechnya's top-notch special forces battalions "Vostok" and "Zapad" have reportedly been transformed into military police units and prepared for deployment to Syria by the end of December, where, according to the same reports, they will be defending the Russian Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia.

Both battalions have extensive combat experience, having been actively engaged in fighting terrorism at home as well as in missions abroad, including Russia's brief war with Georgia in 2008.

#RealNews: Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: Attempts to claim Putin personally involved in US elections foolish

Earlier on Thursday, NBC News claimed citing unnamed US intelligence officials that Putin was allegedly personally involved in cyberattacks that impacted the 2016 presidential election.

In response to the publication, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow considers such reports a "funny nonsense."

"I was simply stunned when I saw this so-called 'news' on the screen. I can't even add anything. In my opinion, it is obviously foolish and pointless to try and convince anyone of such thing,"
Lavrov said as cited on the official website of the ministry.

Rep. King accuses Intel agencies of playing 'House of Cards' after canceled Russian hack briefing

Rep. Peter T King

Intelligence agencies have refused to provide the House Intelligence Committee with information into its investigation of Russian hacking claims, Fox News is reporting. The session had been scheduled for Thursday. Chairman Kevin Nunes (R-CA), as you can imagine, is incensed.
"It is unacceptable that the Intelligence Community directors would not fulfill the House Intelligence Committee's request to be briefed tomorrow on the cyber-attacks that occurred during the presidential campaign," Nunes said in a statement. "The Committee is deeply concerned that intransigence in sharing intelligence with Congress can enable the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes."
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) echoed his colleague's sentiments, calling the cancellation an "absolute disgrace" on "The Kelly File" Wednesday night.

"This could be a whole house of cards," King said. He surmised that the agencies are shutting out Congress in its attempt to "discredit" president-elect Donald Trump.

Cash no longer king: The phasing out of physical money has begun

Cash not accepted graphic
As physical currency around the world is increasingly phased out, the era where "cash is king" seems to be coming to an end. Countries like India and South Korea have chosen to limit access to physical money by law, and others are beginning to test digital blockchains for their central banks.

The war on cash isn't going to be waged overnight, and showdowns will continue in any country where citizens turn to alternatives like precious metals or decentralized cryptocurrencies. Although this transition may feel like a natural progression into the digital age, the real motivation to go cashless is downright sinister.

The unprecedented collusion between governments and central banks that occurred in 2008 led to bailouts, zero percent interest rates and quantitative easing on a scale never before seen in history. Those decisions, which were made under duress and in closed-door meetings, set the stage for this inevitable demise of paper money.

Russian MoD: US MANPAD supplies should worry Pentagon, not 'small arms' seized in Palmyra

The US-led coalition should worry about potential deliveries of US arms to Syria rather than weapons left behind in Palmyra, as the city fell again into the hands of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The response came after a Wednesday report given by US Lieutenant-General Stephen Townsend, commander of Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led coalition fighting the terrorist group Islamic State. Asked by journalists, the general voiced concerns over reports that Islamic State militants captured weapons in Palmyra which could be used against American troops and their allies.

"We believe it includes some armored vehicles and various guns and other heavy weapons, possibly some air defense equipment," he said, adding that "if the Russians and the regime don't strike it, we will."

The Russian Defense Ministry described the stash of weapons as "a few small arms and several disabled military vehicles that cannot pose any threat to the international coalition."

"The thing that should really worry Gen. Townsend is the latest permission of the US Congress to deliver American MANPADs to the Syrian militants in 2017," Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian ministry, said. He added that it "was not hard to guess who will get them after they are delivered to Syria."

On Sunday, the Syrian Army officially declared victory in the battle for Aleppo which began more than four years ago. The first clashes in the city broke out on July 19, 2012.

In the last few months, Aleppo has been an important battleground in Syria, engulfed by a conflict between government forces and a number of opposition and extremist groups.

Over the past three weeks, the Syrian Army and militias have freed more than 98 percent of the territory of eastern Aleppo, according to the Russian reconciliation center.

Certain media outlets and popular groups on social networking sites have launched an entire information campaign against Syrian government forces in Aleppo, an article on Sputnik Arabic read.

They are using pictures from the Gaza Strip as well as photos from 2014 and 2015 as proof of the "atrocities" committed by the Syrian Army against civilians in Aleppo.

More specialist UK soldiers have arrived in Iraq to train anti-Islamic State rebel forces to fight in Syria, joining the 500 already deployed to the region.

Their arrival was announced as the UK hosts a conference of defense ministers from countries involved in the coalition fighting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

The 20 trainers - who are likely to be special forces soldiers - will teach so-called 'moderate' fighters infantry skills, combat first aid and other battlefield tactics.

Congressman: US Intelligence Community Carrying Out Disinformation Campaign Against Trump

The US intelligence community may purposely be trying to discredit President-elect Donald Trump and his victory in the election, Republican congressman Peter King charged in an interview Thursday.

The lawmaker from New York also said other members of Congress could be leaking false information about alleged Russia's interference in last month's US election to attack Trump.

"It's almost as if people in the intelligence community are carrying out a disinformation campaign against the president-elect of the United States," King told Fox News Channel.

King criticized Wednesday's decision by the heads of the Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau Investigation and Office of the Director of National Intelligence against an immediate briefing for the House of Representatives' Intelligence Committee on purported evidence of alleged Russia's electoral meddling.

The agency heads said they would brief the committee once their investigation is completed, but King said they are obliged to do so now.

Russia has repeatedly denied widespread claims by US officials that it tried to interfere in the November 8 election, to the benefit of Trump. Moscow has called the allegations absurd and an attempt to distract the Americans from domestic issues.

Trump's pick Tillerson to 'sell' Putin on new tough Iran Policy

Tillerson's business relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin could prove fruitful while the US works to get rid of international partners for its nuclear treaty with Iran, an agreement which Trump has referred to as "the worst deal." A special team including Tillerson has begun assembling a new Iranian nuclear accord without consulting the original co-signers of the deal, DebkaFile reports, excluding Russia, China, Germany, the UK and France.

Tillerson could be just the man to "sell" Trump's bilateral agreements, DebkaFile adds.
