At least 14 people have been killed and several others injured in lightning strikes across seven districts of Bangladesh amid sudden storms.
Police and local representatives said the deaths occurred at different times on Sunday.
Gaibandha recorded the highest number of fatalities, with five people, including an SSC examinee, killed in separate incidents in Sundarganj, Saghata and Phulchari Upazilas.
Two people each were killed in Sirajganj, Jamalpur and Thakurgaon.
One person each died in Panchagarh, Bogura and Natore.
GaibandhaFive people were killed and one injured in separate lightning strikes in Sundarganj, Saghata and Phulchari Upazilas.
In Sundarganj, three people were killed and another injured in South Dhopadanga village at around 3pm.
The dead were identified as Fuad Hasan Chowdhury, 22, his cousin Rafi Chowdhury, 10, and SSC candidate Mizanur Rahman, 16.
Another youth, Shahin Miah, 17, was injured and admitted to Gaibandha General Hospital.
Dhopadanga Union Parishad Chairman Mokhlesur Rahman Mondal said they had been chatting on a bamboo platform in the courtyard of former union chairman Jahangir Alam Suja Chowdhury's house.
As storm clouds gathered, they took shelter in a cattle shed, where lightning struck, killing the three and a cow instantly.
In Phulchari, Manik Pramanik, 35, died after lightning struck while he was transporting hay by horse cart in a char area.In Saghata, Nombar Ali, 60, was killed while bringing home goats from a field beside his house.
PanchagarhIn Panchagarh's Atwari Upazila, a 25-year-old tea garden worker named Sohrawardy was killed while picking tea leaves.
Two others, Md Mostafa, 45, and Md Zaherul Islam, 43, were injured in the same incident.
Dhamor Union Parishad Chairman Abu Taher Mohammad Dulal said the workers were struck by lightning during a light drizzle on Sunday morning.
Sohrawardy died on the way home, while the injured were taken to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital.
Atwari Police chief Matiar Rahman confirmed that the body had been handed over to the family and an unnatural death case was filed.
SirajganjTwo farmers were killed in separate lightning strikes in Tarash and Raiganj Upazilas.
The dead were Abdul Hamid, 50, and Hasan Ali, 24.
BoguraA man named Sumon, 35, was killed in Gabtali Upazila while trying to bring goats home during rain.
Police said an unnatural death case will be filed.
JamalpurTwo people were killed in Sadar and Melandah Upazilas.
Hasmat Ali, 45, died while bringing cattle home from a field.
Marjina Akter, 21, was struck while cooking in the courtyard of her home.
Two others were injured in separate incidents.
NatoreSamrat Hossain, 26, a farm labourer from Sirajganj's Shahjadpur, died after being struck by lightning while harvesting paddy in Singra.
ThakurgaonTwo people, including a woman, were killed in Pirganj Upazila.
The dead were Selina Akter, 35, and Ilias Ali, 37.
Selina was returning home from work in a field, while Ilias had gone to inspect crops when lightning struck.
