NJ.com reported that local police departments took to social media to inform the public about the potential safety issue.
Sussex County's government posted a message that if someone claims they're from the CDC, "do not let them into your home" and contact police.
It is not uncommon for the unscrupulous to take advantage of a crisis. It has been widely reported that thieves often target homes during evacuations for flooding or fires. The coronavirus may be no different.
Armed robbers wearing surgical masks made off with over $200,000 in cash at a New York racetrack Saturday night, possibly using the coronavirus as cover. The surgical masks allowed them to blend into the crowd.
The Kenosha Police Department in Wisconsin tried to find some levity amid all the coronavirus fears and announced on social media that it would cancel all crime in the area until further notice.
"Due to the growing concern over the flu, Coronavirus and other sicknesses, the decision was made to cancel all crime in the Kenosha area. We are unsure when this ban will be lifted," the department said, according to CBS58.com

A good book I remember from a long time ago, ie., before 9-11, was called 'The Land Remembers', by Ben Logan. There was one story in particular, that he shared in that book that was so beautiful. I will never forget it.
I am a farmer and I was once chastised here by Highland Fleet Lute for being 'wealthy' by virtue of my land possession. We (my wife and I) have never, in 40 years, been able to free ourselves of the debt that came with that land 'possession'.
And a pitchfork is now comparable only to a switchblade knife, one might have once found in the city. A kind of pitiful, scattered relic. A painful relic? Perhaps.
Whoever we are, wherever we are, if we are commoners, our wealth has been taken.
Things will change for us, for the better, though not anytime soon.

It might be more accurate to say our wealth has been extracted by the oligarchs. If something has real value, you or I are not allowed to have it. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I'll pick up that book and start reading it now though.
