Two women were on Tuesday noon killed on the spot after lightning struck them while they were working in agriculture field at two separate places under Ghatoli police station in Jhalawar district. The bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem. On Monday too lightning claimed three lives including two women in Jhalawar and Baran districts of the region.

Twenty-six-year old Bhulibai Lodha, a resident of Prathvipura village was killed on the spot after lightning struck her on Tuesday noon while she was working in the field, said SHO Ghatoli police station, Sardar Khan. The woman was rushed to nearby government hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead, the SHO said.

In a similar incident, a 25-year-old woman identified as Prembai, a resident of Devkadar village under the same Ghatoli police station area was killed on the spot after lightning struck her while she was working in the field, said the SHO.

The bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem in the evening, he said.

Two separate cases under section 174 of CrPc were registered in connection with the two incidents of lightning, the SHO said. Moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday noon began lashing parts of Jhalawar district and continued till evening.

Similarly, lightning on Monday claimed three lives including two women in Jhalawar and Baran districts. A 20-year-old woman identified as Dhapubai Lodha, a resident of Nayagaon village was killed on Monday noon after lightning struck her in Devrikhurd village under Eklera police station area of Jhalawar district.

A 45-year-old man identified as Beeram Kahar, a resident of Manhorethana area of the same district was on Monday killed he was struck by lightning while he was grazing his goats in the field.

In Chabda area of Baran district, on Monday a 40-year-old woman identified as Guddibai Banjara, a resident of Morli Patahar village was also killed similarly.
