Russia has provided victims of emergency situations caused by natural and man-made disasters with humanitarian aid in about 140 countries, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The geography [of Russian aid]... encompasses different countries of the world, some 140 states in total," the statement reads.

In 2014, humanitarian and technical aid was provided to 25 nations, including Iraq and Syria, amounting to a total of over 12,000 tons, according to information contained in the statement.

According to the ministry, Russia replaced one-off cargo deliveries of aid with integrated humanitarian assistance, including supplies of Russian-made equipment, the promotion of Russian technologies and innovations, and staff training.

The ministry conducted some 37 international humanitarian response operations in 2014.
