"The trucks will pass through a special customs scanner at the crossing, which is 100 meters away from their current location," the correspondent reported from the site.
The rest of the 280-truck convoy remains near the Russian town of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky some 20 miles away.
In early August, amid the worsening humanitarian situation in Ukraine, Russia proposed to send an international humanitarian mission to eastern Ukraine with Russian aid under the auspices of the ICRC.
A convoy carrying about 2,000 tons of humanitarian aid including baby food, medication, grain, sugar and other basic necessities set off from the Moscow Region on August 12 heading towards Ukraine's conflict areas.
Comment: Amid ridiculous rumors that the puppets in Kiev attacked the aid convoy, insufferable delays, and "suspicions" that the convoy was really delivering arms to the rebels in Eastern Ukraine, there is finally movement to allow the convoy to begin traveling to another checkpoint, albeit in small groups of 16 trucks. Let's see what else happens as the Russians attempt to bring first aid, food, and other supplies to those suffering under Kiev's assault of Eastern Ukrainians who want nothing to do with the new U.S.-supported fascist and neo-nazi junta.
