Meats and vegetables are getting more expensive by the month

Food prices in Armenia went 5.8% up in 2013, the National Statistical Service reports.
According to the statistical report, 2.3% increase in prices was recorded in December against November 2013, mainly due to 4.3-24.2% rise in prices for fruits, vegetables and potatoes.

Prices for potatoes and vegetables rose by 1.7% in December 2013 against the same month of 2012 and by 24.2% against November 2013.

A 0.9% year-on-year increase was recorded for fruit prices in the period; increase in December compared to November was 4.3%.

Prices for meat products rose by 2.3% in December 2013 compared to December the year before, yet dropped by 0.4% compared to November 2013. Fish product prices rose by 12.2% from the year before and by 2.1% compared to November.

According to ArmStat, sugar prices saw a 14% year-on-year reduction in December and 1.7% decrease compared to the month before.

Egg prices mounted 24.6% in the reporting month compared to December 2012, and rose by 0.5% only, compared with November 2013.

Prices for nonfoods rose by 4.6% in Armenia in 2013. Inflation rate was 5.8%. The targeted inflation level under the 2013 budget was 4% (ยฑ1.5%).
