There was a lightning flash and I almost dropped my camera. Who knew thundersnow existed?

Normal Weather

Why is the recent focus of SOTT on extremely normal weather incidents??? IT is hard to swallow - all of these stories on basic weather events.

I suppose many people that live out their lives in the cities and don't pay particularly close attention to the weather may think that it is weird to see lightning in a snow storm... This is quite common and I have seen it many times!!!

Lightning in the winter is normal, snow in the summer is not... When it snows in July in Chicago - then I will be worried!!

Perhaps if you had actually lived in Chicago for most of your life, you would know that thunder and lightning during snowstorms there is extremely rare. I'd never experienced it before.

You also seemed to miss the point that this wasn't just a normal snowstorm. It was massive, and definitely not "normal weather". Even the mass media reporters had to say that there hadn't been a storm that bad in 30-50 years.

I don't believe that the 'right-left' paradigm will last much longer before one of two things happens: a) there is a civil war, or b) a black swan...
