A flash flood occurred along the Nepal-China border early Tuesday morning, flooding the Bhotekoshi River and leading to the destruction of the Miteri Bridge and several parked vehicles.
A sudden flood struck the Bhote Koshi River at the Nepal-China border around 3 AM on Tuesday, leaving 18 people missing—12 Nepali and 6 Chinese nationals. Among the missing Nepalis are three police officers and nine civilians.

The incident occurred at the Rasuwagadhi border point in Nepal's Rasuwa district, severely impacting cross-border trade and infrastructure.

The main Miteri Bridge, a critical trade route connecting Nepal and China, collapsed in the flood. The customs office yard in Rasuwa also sustained heavy damage, with several parked cargo containers washed away. Though some trapped individuals have been rescued, floodwaters are hampering ongoing relief operations.

Nepal's Armed Police Force confirmed that eight electric vehicles were swept away from an EV charging station in Timure.

Additionally, landslides on the Pasang Lhamu Highway have washed away large sections of road, completely disrupting transportation.

Comment: The Kathmandu Post reports:
Eighteen people have been reported missing and seven bodies recovered after a devastating flood struck Nepal's northern Rasuwa district, severely affecting the Rasuwagadhi border area, according to a Nepal Police update issued at 3 pm on Tuesday.

Among the missing are three Nepal Police personnel, six Chinese nationals, and nine civilians. A total of 55 individuals have been rescued from the flood-affected areas, authorities said.

The flood caused widespread destruction. The Miteri Bridge, a key piece of infrastructure linking Nepal and China, was swept away. Damage was also reported at the EV charging station in Timure, with an estimated seven to eight electric vehicles washed away by the waters.

Large waterspout over IJsselmeer, Netherlands

mmmmmm
On the afternoon of Sunday, July 6, 2025, a tornado was observed over the IJsselmeer near Enkhuizen in Noord-Holland, Netherlands. The phenomenon occurred around 16:30 UTC and was captured on photo and video, quickly spreading across social media. The event has been confirmed by reliable observers, including Bas van der Ploeg, a voluntary meteorological observer, and is categorized as a waterspout due to its formation over a large body of water.

Eyewitness Christiaan de Vries documented the tornado from the shoreline, and his photos clearly show the column of rotating air reaching from the clouds to the lake surface. The tornado was likely non-supercellular in nature, which is typical for waterspouts in this region, especially during humid and unstable summer afternoons.

Though no damage was reported, the spectacle serves as a stark reminder of the power of localized convective storms even in areas not commonly associated with such extremes. The Netherlands, though mostly flat and temperate, has seen an increasing frequency of localized severe weather in recent years, including tornadoes, downbursts, and hailstorms, often associated with summer instability near large water bodies.

Landslides triggered by heavy and continuous rainfall across Uttarakhand have blocked roads at several places, disrupting normal life and severely affecting the Char Dham yatra. As per data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), 113 roads, including two national highways, were blocked on Thursday. Chamoli district reported the highest number of road blockades at 23, followed by Pithoragarh with 22.

The Kedarnath yatra was temporarily halted on Thursday morning after a landslide struck the crucial Sonprayag - Gaurikund route near Mankutia around 10 pm the previous night, stranding over 40 pilgrims returning from the shrine. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) evacuated the pilgrims by opening a temporary passage through the debris.

Officials said the damaged stretch was not fit for movement of vehicles, prompting the authorities to divert incoming pilgrims to safer locations. Road restoration efforts are underway and by Thursday noon, pedestrian movement was partially restored.

"The Munkatiya Sliding Zone and the small parking area near Gaurikund are now open for pedestrian use," said a district police officer.

With just seven months to go before the 2026 Winter Olympics, the Alpine resort town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, is confronting a temporary setback after a landslide earlier this week severed its primary southern access road. However, despite reports suggesting the Olympic host is isolated, local officials have moved quickly to assure the public that the Queen of the Dolomites remains open and accessible.

On July 1, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall and unstable terrain struck the village of San Vito di Cadore, sending more than 3,000 cubic meters (105,900 cubic feet) of debris onto a key stretch of State Road 51 (SS51), also known as the Alemagna route. The landslide—measuring 100 meters (328 feet) wide and four meters (13 feet) high—temporarily closed the road in both directions. No injuries were reported, and emergency crews have been working around the clock to clear the blockage.
