A baffled university don who spotted a UFO over the Brecon Beacons last night said: "There is no logical explanation."

Dr Simon Griffey saw lights loom over a mountain village - before they disappeared.

His close encounter is the third reported in the space of just five days, following sightings by the Army and police.

A small Territory community is still reeling with shock after four UFOs descended on their Outback homes.

Families spent hours in fear as what appeared to be three spaceships hovered in the distance with another just metres above their houses.

The drama at Marlinja, population 112 and 730km south of Darwin, began at 8pm on Sunday.

Resident Janie Dixon said it started as an "ordinary" night.

Reported UFO sightings in Liverpool have sparked fears that the city is on the brink of facing an 'alien invasion.'

Former policeman Steve Rafferty, 50, and his daughter Emma, saw 13 orange orbs and filmed the unexplained phenomena on a mobile phone.

Another witness captured footage and radio stations were jammed with callers reporting sightings.

Police and military authorities here remain clueless on what caused the huge explosion that occurred near a military camp and two provincial jail complexes in a village here Tuesday night.

Investigators are still determining whether the blast was caused by an explosive device or a grenade since there was no trace of bomb or grenade fragments in the vicinity where the explosion was heard, said Senior Superintendent Benilito Bianzon, Davao del Norte police director.

Residents of north-west Moscow witnessed something strange last Saturday, during a football match between Russia and the Netherlands. After the Russian team scored the first goal, at 11.40 pm, a number of lights appeared in the sky. Oddly enough, but the witnesses could see as many lights as Russian footballers, i.e. 11.

It could be the one that got away. Fisherman Simon Moyle, his son Rein and mate Eddie Carroll saw a UFO shooting across NT skies.

The trio were fishing at Shady Camp, 220km east of Darwin, when they spotted an object zip across the sky and burst into fire around 5.30pm on Sunday.

Sighting ... unexplained lights in sky seen by Bonnie

A shaken soldier told last night how he saw thirteen UFOs spinning in the skies above his military barracks.

Corporal Mark Proctor was among three squaddies who spotted the objects while out on night patrol.

He filmed them on his mobile phone and reported the close encounter to Army top brass.

Ministry of Defence experts were studying his report and video yesterday - after ordering Mark and his pals NOT to say anything else about the incident.

An unusual light phenomenon in the night sky

UFO enthusiasts got a boost Friday when Welsh police confirmed that one of their helicopter crews had spotted an "unusual aircraft" flying over Cardiff earlier this month. An investigation into the sighting had been launched, they said.

The police clarification came after The Sun reported a UFO had "attacked" a police helicopter, following it for several miles over the Bristol Channel. "The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter's fuel ran low -- and the UFO escaped," the tabloid reported. The helicopter crew had described the object as "flying saucer-shaped and circled by flashing lights," it added.

The MIG 21 airplane that was allegedly hit by an UFO

The Romanian military has announced that their airplane was hit by an Unidentified Flying Object on October 30th last year. The aircraft camera captured 4 Unidentified Flying Objects which could not be made out on video due to the speed and due to the impact. The MIG 21 Pilot announced that he and another airplane were doing a routine exercise 6km away from Gherla, Romania when this object came from under the clouds and hit his airplane. The object which hit the plane at an altitude of 6300 metres was inititally thought to be a bird. The idea that was later ruled out as it was thought to be highly unlikely that a bird would cause such damage to the military plane.
