It's very hard to impress upon readers the level of UFO and high-strangeness activity that has characterized the Salta region for over half a century. A cursory glance at any of the maps provided with the news items provided with the most recent UFO blackout of Joaquin V. Gonzalez and its environs will reveal the names of adjacent communities that have appeared again and again in connection with the phenomenon: cattle mutilations, monsters, ghosts, UFO sightings, landings and contact experiences, human disappearances...far from being merely a "hot-spot" or a "flap area", the province of Salta is a place where the line between the mundane and the extramundane has been permanently blurred.
In 1997 I wrote an article with information kindly provided by researcher Guillermo Aldunati concerning UFO activity in this region, and particularly an incident that is referred to (as recently as this week, in relation to the blackouts) as the "Argentinean Roswell", as one of the incident's protagonists has gone on to become a respected researcher in his own right, and a key member of the FAO organization. City of Buenos Aires (Urgente 24) - Daily newspapers of the Salta locality of Anta stated that in the early hours of Thursday, witnesses claimed seeing a flying object shaped like a luminous cigar.
The publication reports that "the Department of Anta was plunged into darkness in early morning hours yesterday following an interruption of electric power produced at the same time that dozens of witnesses claimed having seen a UFO plowing the skies over Joaquin V. Gonzalez."
Calves Had Skins Peeled Back, Organs Cleared From Rib Cage
A creepy string of calf mutilations in southern Colorado has a rancher and law enforcement mystified.
Four calves have been found dead in a pasture just north of the New Mexico state line in recent weeks.
The dead calves had their skins peeled back and organs cleared from the rib cage. One calf had its tongue removed.

Description: Around 3:15 in the afternoon we saw what looked like a star in the sky. It would move very slowly to the west then stop. It kept doing this until about 5 minutes later it started moving fast and we lost sight of it when it passed behind a tree. It looked very high up in the sky because some planes passed by and you could see it was beyond them.

Description: There was a red light which seemed to be moving slowly west, away from our location. It stopped momentarily, changed directions as if it was going to turn and make a circle, stopped again, and then moved a little more west. It did this two or three times then came to stop for approximately 5 minutes. Then it began to move west again very slowly and steadily towards the coast until it disappeared out of sight over the San Bruno Hills. The distance of the object was unknown. We were located on El Camino Real at the Tanforan shopping center. It was a little before 11 PM when we noticed it.

Witness Statement: My Grandad told me this week he had seen a UFO sometime last week I think he said last Tuesday. How he described it was that It was just a large glowing object that seemed to be triangular when it moved. It was hovering and silent. He said he had never seen anything like it in all his life. I have always been certain though that I have also witnessed a UFO sighting and that was in the 1990's also in Castleford. I am just eager to find out if anyone else has witnessed anything in the last week or so. My grandad said that anyone was sure to have seen this in the sky. There may also have been more than one object.

Witness Statement: I had just finished watching TV in bed, turned off lights and TV as usual. (I sleep with one blind open as the light helps me to wake up in the morning). I saw 3 green lights in a triangle format very close together, much larger than aircraft lights. As soon as I saw it I knelt up in bed to watch them shoot across the sky, they were very rapid, no noise, debris or fuel trail. The sighting lasted about 5 seconds. The strangest thing I have ever seen in my life!

Witness Statement: I was wondering if anyone has contacted you yet about a "possible" sighting of a UFO over Cambridge on Thursday the 19th Nov 2009? My wife is adamant that she saw a circle (sphere?) of white light moving south over Cambridge Airport at about 1700hrs. She said it moved quite slowly, with no sound whatsoever (hard to say though as she was close to a busy road) and had no other means of illumination (ie. Red/Green navigation lights or wingtip strobes) As she found it hard to guess it's size, she also couldn't accurately estimate height or velocity. She did believe it to be "incredibly high" though.

Witness Statement: I casually looked out of my window before going to bed on the night from Monday the 23rd November to Tuesday the 24th November 2009. Suddenly I saw something in the southern sky, moving from the west to the east in the general direction above the Thames. It was much too fast to be a plane or a helicopter.. it consisted of a set of two lights.. which were aligned vertically!!
It then disappeared behind a building. I waited to see if it was just my imagination playing tricks on me or whether I'd actually seen something! Sure enough, a few seconds later it reemerged from behind the building and continued flying.. until it was out of sight!
On 11/24/09 at 9:45 pm, a commercial airline pilot in the Cordova area was looking to the north at departing air-traffic from the Memphis airport, when he saw what he described as a diamond-shaped craft pass directly under a CRJ-200 [Canadair Regional Jetliner ] . This pilot who has asked to remain anonymous said the jet was flying at about 8000 feet and the Unknown flew under it at an approximate altitude of 6000 feet [a close call in terms of air-traffic safety regulations]. The pilot said the UFO was on a flight path from east to west and traveling at somewhere between Mach 1 and Mach 1.5. He said that it was banking slightly to the north-west as it flew under the jet, so he got a view of its underside. He described it as a perfect triangle with dim white lights at its corners and about 200 ft across, easily as large as a 747. Though it was somewhat hazy in appearance, he said he saw it distinctly enough to make out that it was a solid body with the lights attached. It had no stobe lights and was totally silent. He observed it for about 20 seconds until it passed out of sight .
