Something very strange was spotted high above the skies of Pike County last week leaving those who witnessed the UFO bewildered as to what it could be. The mystery glowing object which has left people wondering what is flying over their heads was watched by amateur astronomer Allen Epling from his Virgie, Kentucky home for over two hours.
Taking video and pictures of the unusual craft, Epling was just one of thousands who saw the cigar-shaped craft across three states and the part-time star-gazer estimated the UFO to be operating at over 100,000 feet - over twice the height a commercial jet flies.

The stunned couple yesterday told how they captured a spooky green man on camera at their home.
Gary and Amanda Linney said the strange figure was spotted running away from their cottage as they experimented with a new camera.
The bizarre snaps emerged just days after another family claimed to have filmed a UFO floating above their house about 25 miles away.
Former policeman Gary, 52, said there was no explanation for the figure.
He said: "It looks like a little green man running. It just disperses into the surface of the road.
"If you look closely, you can see a head. It's very surreal. I was a policeman and a pilot for 20 years and have never seen anything like this before."
Hotel owners Gary and Amanda, 46, from Collieston, Aberdeenshire, tried to recreate the picture but have never seen the strange light since.
But they said they weren't spooked by the images after experiencing a string of paranormal happenings at the Slains Estate house.
It wasn't raining cats and dogs at a California golf course on Monday - it was raining sharks.
A live leopard shark was discovered thrashing about on the grass at around 4pm at the San Juan Hills golf club in San Juan Capistrano, which is four miles from the coast.
The sea creature was spotted by a startled golf club marshall near the 12th tee box, where a group of golfers had just been playing.
'Shark falling from the sky, kind of odd,' said Melissa McCormack, director of club operations at San Juan Hills.
Ms McCormack believes the two-foot-long shark may have been scooped out of the ocean by a predatory bird and dropped onto the golf course.
The creature had two puncture wounds near its dorsal fin and was covered in blood when it was found.

No one seems to know.
"It wasn't anything I recognized. Definitely not an airplane, and I've never seen a helicopter that looked like that," said Allen Epling.
Sightings of the object have been reported in Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee, but it has yet to be identified.
Epling says even with his background in astronomy, it is unlike anything he has ever seen.
"Looked like two fluorescent bulbs, side by side, parallel, shining very brightly. It would get so bright they would seem to merge, and you could see it very clearly with the naked eye. Then it would dim down almost invisible," he said.
Even stranger, the object barely moved. It hovered in the same area for more than two hours.
The ghost seems happy. Probably a football lusitanian fan.

This photo that Maggie Cruikshank posted on Facebook shows what she believes to be the footprint of the creature she saw last month near Akulivik.
"This is scary. It has affected my emotions"
Maggie Cruikshank of Akulivik has an incredible story to tell.
Late in the afternoon on a rainy, windy September Saturday she and a cousin went out from Akulivik to pick berries.
"We moved around a lot because we were looking for big berries," said Cruikshank, a 46-year-old language teacher with the Kativik School Board.
"My cousin noticed something - she thought it was a hunter, but I ignored her because I wanted to go home while the sun was still up. Then, she started to be scared. I got up and looked to where she pointed. It was a very large animal, a bigfoot."
The creature was black, hairy and without any clothes. "Taller and larger than a man," said Cruikshank. "It walks like us but not standing straight like us, it can jump and crawl." And its footprint measures some 40 centimetres.
Move over the Loch Ness Monster, Beast of Bodmin and Essex Lion, there is a new fantastical beast in town and it goes by the name of the 'Creature from Curridge'.
The bushy-tailed, long necked creature was spotted by West Berkshire businessman, Don Prater, at about 4.55pm on October 3.
The 67-year-old, who owns Yarn Fest at Hillier Garden Centre in Hermitage with his wife, Christine, was walking his two-year-old Border Collie called Bozzy when he spotted the animal he has dubbed the 'Creature from Curridge'.
"I hadn't been drinking!" stressed Mr Prater. "I was walking the dog along the passageway behind the Women's Institute Hall in Curridge towards Hermitage.
"After the footpath bends left, about 25 yards ahead of us were two animals. One of the animals looked like a domestic cat but the other one stunned me. It was a dark or grey colour. The height of its head was about two foot but it had the head of a deer. The neck was about eight to ten inches long and thin like a swan's neck. The body was a cross between a cat and a dog. It had a bushy tail. Everything about it was wrong.

Mr Pope, whose job it was to advise on the threat posed by other life forms, said that in the event of an attack he expected that we would "quickly adapt our plans for other more current war scenarios."

Comment: According to the report, the object is estimated to be 1 kilometer long and 200 meters across. The video was shot by the Mexican TV network Televisa from an automated camera that monitors the activity of the Popocatépetl volcano, which lies on the outskirts of the city of Puebla and not far from Mexico City. The speed of the falling object appears to be the same as is observed on the footage, and is estimated to be faster than that of a commercial airplane. A meteorite or volcanic material are ruled out as the object leaves no trail on its path.
The report then goes on to ask for the opinion of skeptic astronomer Margarita Rosado. She attempts to debunk by 'arguing' that a falling object is not as interesting as a rising object and makes it more likely to be a natural phenomenon, and that the brightness of the object and burned pixels suggest it might be a defect on the film, 'like a scratch' - in spite of the object clearly disappearing into the crater. She adds that with so little data science cannot conclude that we are witnessing anything anomalous.
