Israel's killing of five Al Jazeera staff in Gaza prompts global outrage and calls for accountability.

An outpouring of grief and condemnation has followed the Israeli assassination of five Al Jazeera staff in Gaza, including prominent correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

The drone attack late on Sunday hit a tent for journalists positioned outside the main gate of Gaza City's al-Shifa Hospital, killing seven people. Among the dead were Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa and Mohammed Noufal.

A sixth journalist, Mohammad al-Khaldi, a local freelance reporter, was also reported killed in the air attack. Reporters Without Borders said three more journalists were wounded in the same strike.

SOTT Focus: Israel Assassinates 'Voice of Gaza,' Al Jazeera Journalist Anas al-Sharif

The Israeli army assassinated Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and several of his colleagues on Sunday in a targeted airstrike on a journalists' tent outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The strike has effectively wiped out the entire staff of Al Jazeera in Gaza City, claiming the lives of one child and six journalists, including Al Jazeera correspondent Muhammad Qreiqeh.

Widely celebrated as the "voice of Gaza," al-Sharif's assassination comes after months of incitement against him and puts an end to his coverage ahead of an expected Israeli invasion of Gaza City. The Israeli army has reportedly given Gaza City residents until October 7 to evacuate, when the Israeli army reportedly plans to invade northern Gaza as part of its stated plan of conquering the entire Strip.

Al-Sharif and Qreiqeh each have two children. Both stayed behind in northern Gaza as their families fled south when Israel forcibly displaced the population at the beginning of the genocide in late 2023.

Shortly after the airstrike that killed al-Sharif and his colleagues, the Israeli army released a statement claiming that al-Sharif was a member of Hamas and was responsible for "rocket attacks" on Israeli civilians and soldiers. The Israeli army claimed that "intelligence and documents from Gaza" allegedly "proved he was a Hamas operative."

Comment: Included above, Al-Sharif's last will and testament is as inspiring as it is heartbreaking, revealing incredible courage and purpose through pain beyond our imagination.

More from The Times of Israel:
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's spokesperson said the premier is "gravely concerned" about the repeated targeting of journalists in Gaza.
"Reporters covering conflicts are afforded protection under international humanitarian law, and journalists must be able to report independently, without fear, and Israel must ensure journalists can carry out their work safely."
Asked about the claim that one of the journalists was linked to Hamas, Starmer's spokesperson said:
"That should be investigated thoroughly and independently, but we are gravely concerned by the repeated targeting of journalists."
Qatar's prime minister also lambasted Israel for killing journalists working for its Al Jazeera network, describing the deaths as "crimes beyond imagination."

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said in a post on X.
"May God have mercy on journalists Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Qraiqea, and their colleagues."

The UN human rights agency called the killings a "grave breach of international humanitarian law" and that "at least 242 Palestinian journalists have allegedly been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023 when Israel set off the war.

There was no reaction Monday from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office or the Foreign Ministry. Blue and White-National Unity party chairman Benny Gantz, of the opposition, defended the strike:
"Real journalists uphold strict ethical and professional standards — and are worthy of protection. Hamas terrorists and their accomplices, including journalists...should be determinedly hunted and eliminated."

Canadians in Nova Scotia now banned from using public forests

nova scotia canada woods law
Tyranny is a process of acclimation. Governments test the public to see what they will quietly tolerate; leaders then turn "temporary" restrictions into permanent laws as people are conditioned to accept the new normal. Sometimes the public fights back and officials are forced to retreat. However, the tests never end and the bureaucracy continues to press year after year until it gets what it wants.

Many commentators have noticed that the Canadian government has been expediting this authoritarian process in recent years to the point that the intentions of elitist politicians can no longer be misunderstood. The mask is fully off and the country is becoming a draconian cesspool. From censorship laws, to gun bans, to carbon taxes and even legislation that turns Christian worship into "hate speech", Canada is almost every bit as cooked as their commonwealth cousins in Britain.

Six days ago, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia announced a total ban on hiking, camping, hunting or other human activity in the forest.

A breach of this new rule is punishable by a fine up to 28,000 Canadian dollars.

Then, yesterday, New Brunswick decided to enforce a similar ban in their forests.

The aim, proponents claim, is to prevent wildfires. However, in years past, a ban on campfires was deemed good enough during wildfire season or periods of drought. A full ban on all human activity is unprecedented.

Nevertheless, there is a rather predictable list of people defending the move with language that's all too familiar:

The linguistic kill-switch: Inside the modern propaganda playbook

The next time someone sneers "conspiracy theorist," "anti-vaxxer," "climate denier," "far right," "hate speech," "terrorist," or the ever-popular "racist," understand what they are really saying: stop thinking.

These words are a linguistic kill-switch — engineered to short-circuit thought by triggering a reflexive emotional spasm.

If you encounter someone using these words, you can be certain you are not dealing with someone interested in a good faith effort to find the truth.

These terms are precision-guided psychological weapons, fired by unseen hands to herd the public mind. Recall the CIA's own 1967 memo coining "conspiracy theorist" expressly to silence anyone doubting the magic-bullet fairy tale that supposedly killed JFK.

'Can't believe this dystopian world Canada has become'

The army veteran recorded a video that captured authorities handing him a ticket for a fine of $28,872.50.

Jeff Evely, a retired veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, shared a video of himself being fined while walking into the woods. In the video, he said he was on a mountain road in Coxheath, Nova Scotia, near the Department of Natural Resources.

"Nova Scotia just handed me a fine for $28,872.50 for walking into the woods," Evely tweeted while sharing the video. In the clip, he says people are charged a $25,000 fine for going into the woods surrounding the building where conservation officers work.

Comment: Nova Scotia's excuse? Wait for it . . . . .

Yep, NS thinks that walking with your family in provincial parks is a fire hazard.

Safe injection site brings daytime public sex to NY borough: 'Getting my own porno show'

They're shooting up, and getting down.

New York City's controversial, taxpayer-funded "safe" injection site has reached a depraved new low — with addicts so zonked out they routinely have sex in broad daylight, often at the doorstep of neighbors forced to endure the X-rated free-for-all.

The Post witnessed the madness firsthand near OnPoint's East Harlem headquarters on a recent Wednesday afternoon, as a horndog pair were conjoined for fifteen long minutes — and kept going even as pedestrians awkwardly walked past.

"The guy was just doing his thing, just looking around, wasn't afraid of anything. I couldn't believe it. I just could not believe it," said one revolted eyewitness, who asked not to be identified.

"The guy finished, and he just starts zipping his pants and walking away. And the woman was still bent over wondering what was going on. And then after he got maybe three yards away, she said 'Hey, hey! That's it?' and he said, 'Come on!' and then she pulled up her pants and ran behind him."

"It's disgusting," added neighbor Shkigale Baker, who lives across the street from where the raunchy scene took place.

Comment: This is the world that Democrats have created by appeasing drug users.

WTF! Stressed adults rely on pacifiers to soothe themselves: 'I feel a sense of safety from childhood'

When the going gets tough, the tough ... pop in a pacifier?

That's the surprising stress-busting move thousands of young adults in China are making — swapping melatonin and meditation for an adult-sized binky.

Once a niche quirk, the silicone soothers are supposedly now big business on Chinese e-commerce giants like Taobao and JD.com, where they are priced anywhere from a budget-friendly 10 yuan ($1.40) to a luxury 500 yuan ($70).

They're sold as sleep aids, stress relievers, even smoking-cessation tools — and shoppers are gobbling them up. Some online sellers move thousands each month, according to the South China Morning Post.

And the fans aren't shy about why. "When I'm under pressure at work, I feel a sense of safety from childhood," one Chinese buyer said, as reported by the outlet.

Breaking the siege: Global Sumoud Flotilla to set sail for Gaza from Spain

multi ship flotilla gaza global sumoud
© Social mediaThe Global Sumoud Flotill is ready to set sail for Gaza.
The first mission will depart from Spanish ports on August 31, followed by a second launch from Tunisian ports on September 4.

Activists from 44 countries gathered in Tunis to prepare for a coordinated maritime effort known as the Global Sumoud Flotilla, aimed at breaking the Israeli blockade on Gaza.

Speaking at a press conference in the Tunisian capital, Haifa Al-Mansouri explained that four campaigns — the Maghreb Steadfastness Flotilla, the Global Movement Towards Gaza, the East Asian Initiative, and the Freedom Flotilla — have united for this initiative.

According to Al-Mansouri, the flotilla seeks to break the blockade, open a humanitarian sea corridor, and help end what organizers describe as an ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.

Comment: Sumoud, meaning "steadfastness" or "steadfast perseverance," is a Palestinian cultural value and political strategy that emphasizes resilience and resistance against oppression, particularly in the context of the Israeli occupation. It reflects a commitment to maintaining one's presence and identity in the face of adversity.
