Trump and Putin Meet in Alaska U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to meet in Alaska on Friday, August 15, 2025, for their first in-person summit since the start of the war in Ukraine. The meeting, announced by Trump on Truth Social, aims to discuss a potential peace deal involving territorial swaps between Russia and Ukraine, a proposal that has drawn criticism and skepticism from Kyiv and Western allies. The Kremlin has confirmed the meeting, citing Alaska's geographical proximity to Russia as a logical choice for the venue. Trump stated that any peace agreement would involve "some swapping of territories, to the betterment of both" Russia and Ukraine, though he provided no specific details. According to reports, the proposed deal could see Russia retain control of the Donbas region and Crimea, while withdrawing from parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has firmly rejected any territorial concessions, emphasizing that such decisions are governed by Ukraine’s Constitution and that "Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier". He also stressed that any solutions made without Ukraine’s involvement would be "against peace". The meeting follows a failed U.S.-imposed deadline of August 8, 2025, for Russia to agree to a ceasefire, after which Trump had threatened additional sanctions—though no new sanctions were announced. Instead, the diplomatic shift toward direct talks with Putin has raised concerns among U.S. allies and officials about abandoning Ukraine’s interests. Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski expressed cautious hope for progress but voiced deep wariness about Putin’s intentions, calling the Arctic location a potential venue for meaningful diplomacy. The last U.S.-Russia presidential summit occurred in 2021 between Joe Biden and Putin in Geneva. A trilateral meeting involving Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy remains a possibility, though Moscow has not committed to such a format and insists on preconditions for any direct talks with the Ukrainian leader. European leaders have been briefed on the proposed peace framework, but their support for territorial concessions remains uncertain.
Buffalo_Ken Wait…. Mr. President is real? You met him? So he’s just an arrogant troll?JohnnyQuest - I don't know the answer to that question - seriously I don't! BUT - tis PROVEN "the entity" is willing to enter the code for the Oh Hell game - cause well....it is. So, while the entities posts are often "drivel" in my mind - said entity will engage in online gaming - and I can't deny I appreciate that. So far the tally is BK 2 and MrP 1! It is a best of 5 challenge...twixt the entity and I direct - the others bots notwithstanding.
