Benjamin Netanyahu's provocations have provoked reactions that the massacre of 29,000 Gazan civilians did not. All the protagonists in the wider Middle East and the West, who are constantly at odds with each other, have suddenly joined forces against him. While everyone sees Gaza's future differently, all agree that Israel can no longer continue with Jewish supremacists in its government. We're heading for a temporary relocation of Gazans under Egyptian protection, followed by a purge in Israel.

Washington's reaction, followed by that of its main allies, to the "Conference for the Victory of Israel" and the standing ovation given to Rabbi Uzi Sharbaf in the presence of 12 serving ministers has profoundly reshuffled the cards in the Middle East.

Comment: Considering the players on the Western side, Meissyan's last question is almost rhetorical. The US doesn't care about Gaza or the Palestinians. They care that their hitherto 'unconditional support' for Israel is finally doing some real damage to the US' credibility in the world. More and more countries are looking around and saying 'no thanks' to the
Rules-based Order.

Instead, they are lining up to join BRICS. As of May 2023, and note if you will, the number of resource-heavy nations:

'There's only Plan A': Defense leaders fear failure in Ukraine

Attendees of the Munich Security Conference were worried about Ukraine's prospects against Russia and American commitment to Kyiv.

Four American senators recounted a story Ukrainian officials told them at the Munich Security Conference: A soldier in a muddy trench with Russian artillery exploding nearby, scrolling on his phone for signs the U.S. House would approve military aid.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), leader of one of the congressional delegations, said it was "heartbreaking" to hear the tale. "For young Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines, this is a persistent topic of conversation," the senator relayed, a somber tone in his voice.

Comment: Exploiting gullibility? Someone in Ukraine wants something now.

The episode highlighted the pall over this weekend's gathering of transatlantic-minded officials and dignitaries in the Bavarian capital. Ukraine's worsening prospects on the battlefield and questions about America's commitment to Kyiv dominated the annual event. The gloom was amplified by news of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny's death, which hit just as leaders were arriving on the event's first day.

Many politicians and officials used the moment to press that Ukraine would lose the war without the $60 billion more in U.S. military aid currently awaiting a vote in the House. But they also sounded far from certain about what a victory might look like for Ukraine even with that boost.

Russia may attack NATO, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has claimed in an interview with Bloomberg.

Pistorius was speaking on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference over the weekend. NATO leaders and defense officials met in Germany to discuss current geopolitical challenges, in particular the situation in Ukraine and military aid to Kiev.

Bloomberg quoted Pistorius as saying:
"I can't predict if and when an attack on NATO territory might occur. But it could happen in five to eight years."
According to the outlet, EU countries are increasingly alarmed over Russia's success on the battlefield, the potential reduction in US support for the region, and the fact that they are not prepared for an attack.

On Saturday, Russian forces liberated the key town of Avdeevka in a significant battlefield victory, inflicting heavy casualties on Ukrainian troops.

The forthcoming second anniversary of Russia's military operation in Ukraine is a symbolic date, but hardly a cause for celebration. In fact, events have to be studied from a considerable remove in order to see the big picture.

Positional deadlock

Any discussion of a breakthrough on the front and military defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) has long been met with the counter-argument:
Let us take Avdeevka (a key Donbass stronghold) first, and then we will talk.
On Saturday, that goal was officially achieved.
So what now? In order to crush the enemy and impose our will, we need an effective strategy, a plan for successful combat operations.

By last year, such a system was well established on the defensive side - in the absence of a multiplier advantage, neither side is yet able to break through the front with its own means and conduct successful offensive operations.

Back in the autumn, Avdeevka was described as a kind of test for the Russian Army. The Avdeevka operation began with an attempt to cut off the city and create a ring of encirclement 10km in diameter.

On October 10, after massive artillery preparations, mechanized attacks were launched in two directions - across the railway north of the Avdeevka chemical plant and from the south, from the village of Vodyanoye. Like the enemy's attacks on Rabotino in the summer, these efforts faltered, and our command - relying on artillery, attack drones, and small assault groups - shifted the center of gravity right into the city itself.

And now, after a fifth month of fighting, the Avdeevka epic has concluded.

Pay to Play: Trump's appeal costs will be staggering

In the wake of the massive judgment against Donald Trump, many in New York are celebrating the prospect that the former president could be forced to sell off his property just to be able to appeal the $355 million judgment against him. While Trump has good grounds to object to this excessive fine, he still has to come up with close to a half billion dollars just to make his arguments to the New York Court of Appeals.

In order to file an appeal, the courts require a deposit for the full amount of the damages or a bond covering the full amount. Even with escrow options, the call for cash or collateral can be enough to put some executives in a fetal position.

It can be challenging enough for many companies drained from years of litigation. For Donald Trump, the demand for $355 million plus $100 milion in interest could force a fire sale on properties to pony up just the deposit.

Brazil expels Israeli ambassador after Tel Aviv demanded envoy condemn Lula's Gaza-holocaust comparison

Brazil has expelled the Israeli ambassador and withdrawn its ambassador from Israel, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

This move comes just a day after the Israeli government summoned the Brazilian envoy to condemn the President's remarks, likening the situation in Gaza to a war crime and genocide, akin to the Holocaust.

The Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's comments highlighted the disparity in power between the Israeli occupation armed with advanced weaponry and the vulnerable Palestinian civilians, drawing parallels to the atrocities of the Holocaust.

Comment: What Lula actually said bears repeating:
"What's happening in the Gaza Strip isn't a war, it's a genocide," Lula told reporters in Addis Ababa where he was attending an African Union summit.

"It's not a war of soldiers against soldiers. It's a war between a highly prepared army and women and children," added the veteran leftist.

"What's happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people hasn't happened at any other moment in history. Actually, it has happened: when Hitler decided to kill the Jews."
And it's not just Lula, an increasing number of leaders from around the world are calling out the 'international community's' genocide for what it is:

Munich Security Conference and other pointless exercises

"We must keep the sanctions. Because the sanctions give [Russia] the money to pay for this war and build their military even further", said Nancy Pelosi, the former house speaker in Washington at the Munich security conference. Other members on the panel, which included Ukraine's foreign minister, looked at her rather oddly, wondering whether she had meant to say exactly what she had uttered. Of course it was a Freudian slip. She actually meant to say the opposite but, the MSC conference, being what it was this year — a flop — absorbed the absurdity of the moment, along with many others.

This year's MSC conference in Munich didn't really hold its weight leaving many wondering what is the point of these global security conferences in the first place when Iran and Russia — two countries who you really want to engage with if you are serious about the subject — were not invited. Fifty heads of state turned up, with of course Germany's Numpty-in-Chief Olaf Scholz who managed to successfully avoid making a plain English response to all of the scripted questions presented to him by one of the journalists invited to chair the discussions. If there was any doubt before the conference that the man is a prize idiot, his interview, which he conducted in English, set the record straight once and for all. It was impossible listening him ramble on to not imagine him in a Nazi uniform talking about inventories over the phone to a subordinate. Surely our man Olaf would have been an accountant during the Second world war. And a second rate one at that.

World leaders no longer working toward peace - Serbian president

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic

The international community is no longer interested in ending conflicts, and instead views peace as an "unwanted" ideal, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has claimed in an interview with TASS published on Tuesday.

His comments follow last week's annual Munich Security Conference, which saw senior officials and heads of state from all over the world gather in the German city to debate international security issues, including the Ukraine conflict.

Vucic noted that he has participated in the forum numerous times, using the opportunity to gauge "how the Western world thinks" and its willingness to listen to varying opinions, including from smaller nations.

Comment: War keeps the plebs distracted while also lining the pockets of the elites so Vucic's comments comes as no surprise.

Venezuela aims to become a full-fledged member of the BRICS group "soon," President Nicolas Maduro announced on Monday, stating that the emergence of a new multipolar world is "irreversible."

Speaking to the Venezolana de Televisión channel, the leader insisted that the "old colonial world" characterized by "invasions, genocide, wars, and a superiority complex" is being replaced by a new one in which the consolidation of BRICS is guaranteed.

"Venezuela is going to the BRICS soon," Maduro proclaimed.

Israel's defence minister claims that more than 1,400 staff from the UN aid agency in charge of helping Palestinian people are members of either Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Yoav Gallant, the former IDF general, told a group of reporters at a briefing on Friday that roughly 12% of UNRWA were members of at least one of the terror groups.

'Out of 13,000 UNRWA workers, 12 per cent are affiliated with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)', he said.
