'Moving fast; breaking things': A new doctrine takes root; a new era of coerced dominance

Creeping, thunderous changes are underway in the West. A new political doctrine has taken root: Western Conservative (and younger) populist thinking is being rebuilt as something rougher, meaner, and far less sentimental, or tolerant.

It aspires to emerge too, as 'dominant', deliberately coercive, and radical. Throwing components of the exiting order into the air to see if they can be landed in a beneficial way (i.e. greater rent revenues) for the U.S.

The so-called Rules-Based Order blueprint (if it ever truly existed beyond narrative) has been ripped up. Today it is war without limits - without rules; without law; and in complete disdain for the UN Charter. Ethical boundaries, more particularly, are dismissed in parts of the West as 'weak' 'moral relativism'. The point is to leave opponents stunned and frozen stick figures.

In parallel, something profound has re-shaped Israeli and U.S. foreign policy: Ignoring rules purposively to shock. Moving fast and breaking things. Over recent months, Israel has struck with military force in the West Bank, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Qatar and Tunisia - besides Gaza. In June, these two nuclear states bombed the nuclear facilities of a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty under IAEA protection - Iran.

This 'moving fast; breaking things' phenomenon was clearly evident when Israel, with U.S. support, launched its sneak attack on Iran on 12 June. It was also evident secondly, in the bureaucratic speed which took many by surprise, as the 'European 3' members of the JCPOA - effected the 'Snapback' of all JCPOA-mandated sanctions on Iran. Iranian attempts at diplomacy were swept aside remorselessly.

The invocation of sanctions Snapback was clearly rushed through to pre-empt the imminent 'sunset' of the entire JCPOA framework on 18 October - after which the JCPOA will be 'no more'.

Joe Biden asked the CIA to cover up a report about his family's alleged corrupt business activities in Ukraine while he was serving as US vice president in 2015, according to declassified agency documents.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe published the mostly redacted records on Tuesday.

One of the documents was a government email sent to the agency and dated February 10, 2016.

"Good morning, I just spoke with Vice President / National Security Adviser and he would strongly prefer the report not/not be disseminated. Thanks for understanding," it said.

Politicians with no public support are focused on destabilizing the country, Irakli Kobakhidze claims.

Georgia's foreign-backed radical opposition has repeatedly failed to win elections and has instead turned to attempts to overthrow the government, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said following renewed unrest in Tbilisi.

Following municipal elections in which Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze of the ruling Georgian Dream party was re-elected, protesters sought to breach the presidential residence in the nation's capital on Saturday night, leading to violent clashes with police.

Speaking on national television on Monday, Kobakhidze claimed that the radical opposition had "lost ten elections and staged five coup attempts in just four years," describing its actions as deliberate sabotage.

Best of the Web: New CBS owner David Ellison met with top Israeli general in scheme to spy on Americans

Israel's former top general sought donations from David Ellison and his father, Larry, as part of a billionaire coterie to fund digital paramilitaries aimed at sabotaging pro-Palestine activists. The leaked documents show one planner explaining, "In the jungle, we need more guerrillas and less IDF." With Paramount and CBS News now under his control, the younger Ellison has installed self-described "Zionist fanatic" Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief.

The new owner of Paramount, David Ellison, participated in an Israeli government-led plot to surveil and suppress pro-Palestine activists in the US, leaked emails show. Originally dubbed "12 Tribes," a reference to the dozen Jewish billionaires solicited to underwrite the operation, the scheme sought out American faces to fund surveillance firms run by Israeli intelligence veterans on behalf of Tel Aviv, as it targeted American citizens participating in the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The emails documenting the foreign influence campaign to counter BDS were first identified by journalist Jack Poulson, who discovered them in a trove leaked by the Handala hacking collective in 2024. The files show former Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz was tasked with recruiting wealthy Westerners to fund surveillance firms operated by Israeli intelligence veterans as they stalked and harassed people whom the government of Israel suspected of harboring pro-Palestinian sympathies.

Trump sued over National Guard deployment

The lawsuit from California and Oregon seeks to stop a federal order deploying troops to Portland amid nationwide protests.

The US states of California and Oregon filed a lawsuit on Sunday seeking to block the administration of President Donald Trump from deploying 200 California National Guard troops to the city of Portland.

The legal challenge comes amid nationwide protests over Trump's immigration crackdown and use of military forces in cities. The Pentagon said it would dispatch the troops to "support US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal personnel carrying out official duties, including enforcing federal law and protecting federal property."

California's Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, said he is suing Trump over the guard deployment, calling it "a breathtaking abuse of the law and power." Oregon and California maintain that the deployment of out-of-state guard troops is a new overreach and requires a separate court decision.

A federal judge in Oregon has issued a temporary block on any deployment of National Guard troops to Portland, including those coming from other states such as California.

Comment: Trump is doing his job as he sees it. In a divided country he will always be half wrong.

Ukraine has just generated another cash sink for Western taxpayers

The office of the "Special Representative for the Reconstruction of Ukraine" has been created for Canada's ex-deputy prime minister.

Last month, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's deputy prime minister, Chrystia Freeland, was dropkicked from newish Prime Minister Mark Carney's cabinet. He did her a massive favor. Because now she doesn't have to pretend to represent Canada anymore while following her true passion: representing Ukraine.

Freeland has a new role: "Special Representative for the Reconstruction of Ukraine," officially speaking. The first question that came to mind when hearing this was, "When does she finally get to move to Kiev, already?" Imagine my disappointment to learn that she doesn't.

French PM resigns hours after proposing new cabinet

Sebastien Lecornu has stepped down after 27 days, making his tenure the shortest in French history.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has announced his resignation less than 12 hours after appointing a new cabinet. The French parliament is deeply divided over efforts to pass a new budget that would tackle rising debt.

A former defense minister, Lecornu was the seventh prime minister appointed by French President Emmanuel Macron and the fifth in two years. His sudden resignation less than a month after entering the role makes him the shortest-lived prime minister in modern French history.

A long-time Macron loyalist, Lecornu faced fierce criticism from both sides of the political aisle on Sunday after unveiling his new cabinet which was largely unchanged from the previous government of Francois Bayrou. Parties across the National Assembly threatened to vote it down.

Following the announcement, several political parties have called for snap parliamentary elections. The National Rally party stated on X that "Macronism is dead on its feet," and called on Macron to choose between the dissolution of the National Assembly or resignation.

Biden FBI spied on eight GOP senators, damning new doc claims: 'Arguably worse than Watergate'

WASHINGTON — The FBI secretly obtained the phone records of nine Republican members of Congress, including eight sitting senators, under the Biden administration as part of its "Arctic Frost" investigation of 2020 election meddling, a bombshell document revealed.

Specific reasons for the FBI's espionage of the sitting lawmakers are not clear. The document revealing the spy effort was recently turned over to lawmakers and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released it to the public on Monday.

"Based on the evidence to-date, Arctic Frost and related weaponization by federal law enforcement under Biden was arguably worse than Watergate," Grassley said in a statement.

An Ethnic Ukrainian Lobby Might Soon Take Shape In The Polish Sejm

Polish and Ukrainian flags
Poland's territorial integrity and possibly even its statehood could be threatened if the authorities don't thwart this scenario by at the very least amending the Citizenship Law and then "creatively coercing" most of this community into re-migrating to Ukraine.

"European Pravda" predicted in a recent article about "How Nawrocki wants to make life harder for Ukrainians in Poland" that "as early as 2027, Ukrainian migrants may have the chance to secure their own political representation in the Sejm." This migrant community of two million people might not have the chance, however, if President Karol Nawrocki's proposed amendment to the Citizenship Law passes and it then takes ten years instead of three years of residence with a long-term permit to apply for this.

Back To Square One? Hamas, Israelis Meet In Egypt To Hash Out Trump Peace Plan

Sharm el-Sheikh
Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
After President Trump issued weekend threats telling Hamas to move quickly on implementing his 20-point Gaza peace plan, along with previously warning there'd be "hell to pay" if they don't free all 48 remaining hostages (living and deceased), it seems the sides are merely back to square one in a sense as delegations have been sent to Egypt.

"A delegation of Hamas officials led by the terror group's leader Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Egypt on Sunday night to begin negotiations on Washington's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip and free all 48 remaining hostages — at least 20 of them alive — as US President Donald Trump implored all parties to move fast toward an agreement," Israeli media writes. An American official has told Sky News Arabia that still "There are many details that need to be worked on regarding the Gaza negotiations." But the message from Washington is that the priority is the immediate release of the hostages.

Comment: When Trump speaks about the release of the hostages, he is exclusively referring to Israeli hostages and not to the thousands of Palestinian hostages kept by Israel.
