Best of the Web: Dystopia UK: Genocidal RAF squadron targeted by Palestine Action is actually owned by a HEDGE FUND

RAF VIP Voyager fuel tanker air to air
RAF VIP Voyager able to carry up to 111 tonnes of fuel, the highest capacity of all tanker aircraft, with the ability to dispense 50,000 kg of fuel
If you thought RAF jets were owned by the RAF, think again.

The RAF squadron targeted for a repaint by Palestine Action due to its involvement in supplying Israel's genocide, does not in fact belong to the RAF at all. It belongs ultimately to Polygon Global Partners LLP, a Hedge Fund.

Through a chain of seven cutout companies, which I will take you through, the direct ownership is with Airtanker Ltd, which gives its address as RAF Brize Norton. It owns, maintains and operates the RAF's Voyager refuelling aircraft, which have been providing mid-air refuelling to the Israeli Defence Forces as well as carrying, in their cargo role, munitions to the IDF.

Note that Airtanker Ltd states that five of the Voyager aircraft while available to the RAF: "can also be made available to other parties. This can include providing military capability to other nations...".

The Palestinian Action group was reported on by Al Jazeera:
What is Palestine Action?

Palestine Action describes itself as a movement "committed to ending global participation in Israel's genocidal and apartheid regime". The group was launched in July 2020.

The group says it seeks to use "disruptive tactics" to target "corporate enablers" and companies involved in weapons manufacture for Israel, such as Israel-based Elbit Systems, Italian aerospace company Leonardo, French multinational Thales and United States company Teledyne. The group has targeted British facilities linked to these companies.

"Palestine Action is a direct action group who have majoritively focused on weapons factories that are operating on British soil and are complicit in the current genocide in Gaza, but also in the longer-term kind of oppression of the Palestinian people," Manaal Siddiqui, a spokesperson for Palestine Action, told Al Jazeera.

In 2022, the group broke into a Thales equipment factory in Glasgow, causing damage to weapons worth more than 1 million pounds ($1.4m).

In 2021, members of Palestine Action protested on the rooftop of Elbit Systems' subsidiary UAV Tactical Systems in Leicester for six days, until a number of them were arrested by the police.
[...]
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said in a statement on Monday that she had decided to proscribe the group under the Terrorism Act 2000.

Cooper's statement came days after June 20, when some Palestine Action activists broke into RAF Brize Norton, the largest station of the Royal Air Force in Oxfordshire, and sprayed two military planes with red paint.

In the most high-profile move made by the group so far, the activists sprayed red paint into the turbine engines of two Airbus Voyager aircraft, used for air-to-air refuelling, and damaged them with crowbars.
[...]
Siddiqui, however, said Brize Norton stores aircraft "which are going to be used around the world, but particularly in Gaza". She added that they have also been used in Syria and Yemen.

Israel's war in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has killed more than 56,000 Palestinians.

"These aircraft can be used to refuel and have been used to refuel Israeli fighter jets," Siddiqui said, adding that planes from Brize Norton go to the British air force base in Cyprus, from where they are "dispatched on spy missions and that intelligence is shared with the Israeli government and the Israeli air forces".

Best of the Web: Arrests across France after 145 youths report being stabbed by syringes loaded with 'date rape' drugs at annual street music festival

French police have detained 12 suspects after 145 people reported being pricked with syringes during the country's annual street music festival this weekend.

Millions of people took to the streets across France on Saturday evening for the Fête de la Musique, with authorities reporting "unprecedented crowds" in Paris.

The feminist influencer Abrège Soeur warned online before the festival that calls had been made on social media for women to be targeted with syringes. It was not certain where such posts would have been made or by whom.

The interior ministry said 145 victims across the country had reported being stabbed with needles during outdoor music events across the country. Paris police reported 13 cases in the capital.

Officials did not say if these were cases of so-called needle spiking with date-rape drugs such as Rohypnol or GHB, used by attackers to render victims confused or unconscious and vulnerable to sexual assault. "Some victims were taken to hospital for toxicological tests," the ministry said.

In Paris, investigations were opened after three people, including a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old male, reported being stabbed in separate incidents across Paris, prosecutors said. All three reported feeling unwell.

Best of the Web: The source for key Iran nuclear allegation? Palantir's counter-intelligence algorithm

IAeA Iran flags nuclear inspections
The IAEA Board's 'Non-Compliance' Resolution on 12 June 2025 was the planned precursor for Israel's 'bolt from the blue' strike on Iran the next day. Israelis say the plan to go to war with Iran was grounded in 'the opportunity' to strike, and not the intelligence that Iran was speeding towards a bomb (that was the peg for war).

The sudden claim of Iran being very close to a bomb (that seemingly jumped out of 'nowhere' to leave Americans puzzling how could it happen that - in the blink of eye, we are going to war - was subsequently refuted by IAEA Chief Grossi to CNN on 17 June (but only after the abrupt attack on Iran already had taken place):

"We did not have any evidence of a systematic effort [by Iran] to move to a nuclear weapon", Grossi confirmed on CNN.
Esmaeil Baqaei
© Atta Kenare, AFPIran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei
This statement drew the following riposte from Iran by its Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei on 19 June:
"This is too late, Mr. Grossi - you obscured this truth in your absolutely biased report that was instrumentalized by E3/U.S. to craft a resolution with baseless allegation of [Iranian] 'non-compliance'; the same resolution was then utilized, as a final pretext, by a genocidal warmongering regime to wage a war of aggression on Iran and to launch an unlawful attack on our peaceful nuclear facilities. Do you know how many innocent Iranians have been killed/maimed as a result of this criminal war? You turned IAEA into a tool of convenience for non-NPT members to deprive NPT members of their basic right under Article 4. Any clear conscience?!".
To which Dr Ali Larijani, Advisor to the Supreme Leader, added:
"When the war ends, we will hold the director of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, accountable".
What they are saying:

The Russian Foreign Ministry's Statement, in relation to the escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict -
"It was precisely these "sympathisers" [EU3] who exerted pressure on the leadership of the [IAEA] Agency to prepare a controversial "comprehensive assessment" of Iran's nuclear programme, the flaws of which were subsequently exploited to push through a biased anti-Iran resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors on 12 June [2025]. This resolution effectively provided a green light to actions by West Jerusalem, leading to tragedy" [i.e. to the sneak attack on the immediate day after, 13 June].
Behind the scenes:

The underpinnings to the 12 June 2025 IAEA Resolution - giving pretext for Israel to strike Iran (and crafted to sway President Trump to dismiss his own Director of National Intelligence's warnings that there was no evidence of Iran moving towards weaponisation) - reportedly were drawn not from Mossad or other western intelligence services, but from IAEA software. As DD Geo-politics outlines, since 2015, the IAEA has relied on Palantir's Mosaic platform, a $50-million AI system that sifts through millions of data points - satellite imagery, social media, personnel logs - to predict nuclear threats:
"Iran's stockpile [of enriched uranium] had been growing steadily for months — yet the narrative of an imminent breakthrough surged only after the IAEA's censure on June 6, 2025. That resolution, adopted 19-3, provided Israel the diplomatic cover it needed. Palantir's Mosaic platform played a critical role in this pivot. Its data shaped the May 31 report, flagging anomalies at Fordow and Lavisan-Shian, and recycling prior allegations from Turquzabad — despite years-old Iranian denials and sabotage ... Mosaic was conceived originally to identify insurgent activity in Iraq and Afghanistan".
Its algorithm looks to identify and infer 'hostile intent' from indirect indicators - metadata, behavioral patterns, signal traffic - not from confirmed evidence. In other words, it postulates what suspects may be thinking, or planning. On 12 June, Iran leaked documents, which it claimed showed IAEA chief Rafael Grossi sharing Mosaic outputs with Israel. By 2018, Mosaic had processed more than 400 million discrete data objects and had helped impute suspicion to over 60 Iranian sites such as to justify unannounced IAEA inspections of those sites, under the JCPOA. These outputs, though dependent largely on the algorithmic equations, were incorporated into formal IAEA safeguard reports and were widely accepted by UN member states and non-proliferation regimes as credible, evidence-based assessments. Mosaic however is not a passive system. It is trained to infer from its algorithm hostile intent, but when repurposed for nuclear oversight, its equations risk translating simple correlation into malicious intent.

Comment: So basically Palantir is "diagnosing" wrongthink. That doesn't bode well for any level of society.

What leading Israeli commentators are saying:

Leading Israeli centre-right commentator, Ben Caspit (Ma'ariv):
"Was Iran's 'breakthrough' to the nuclear weapon actually detected? Probably not. Was the [Supreme] Leader's "order" to achieve a military nuclear weapon actually given? Probably not. So why did we go to war? Because there was no choice. They were promoting an Israeli annihilation plan and we had no choice... October 7: A cold shower woke up an entire country. All those involved need to understand that anyone who contemplates our destruction will be destroyed. Eyes on the ball and a bullet between the eyes ... From now on, every move one of our enemies makes somewhere must be followed by action. Every snake's head that rises must be beheaded ... And there is something else: the rare and one-time historical window of opportunity that suddenly opened before us ... All of this made the decision to go to this war the right one ... Netanyahu is currently in euphoria".
Israeli commentator, Nahum Barnea (Yedioth Ahoronot):
"The decision to start a war was all Netanyahu's. And here he is, deciding and responsible: all the credit is his. Trump gave Israel the green light to start a war, provided that it does not present America as a partner and responsible. The Trump method does not distinguish between Zelensky's Ukraine and Khamenei's Iran: humiliation along the way is the guarantee of an agreement in the end".
Israeli & NY Times commentator, Ronan Bergman (Yedioth Ahoronot):
"The need for the series of assassinations last week first emerged as a thought last September, among senior officials in Unit 8200, the research division in the Intelligence Directorate, the Mossad, and other parts of the system. The trigger was the defeat inflicted by the IDF on Hezbollah, followed by the successful attack on Iran and the destruction of its air defence system in October, followed in December by the collapse of the Assad regime in Damascus and the destruction of its air defence system by the IDF. The sequence of events led many senior Israeli officials to believe that an unprecedented opportunity had arisen, a window of a lifetime, to attack Iran... And so the beheading forum, which decided the fates of scientists thousands of miles away, sat down and decided who would be ranked at level A - the highest importance - and who at levels B, C or D - the lowest".
Big Picture:

Seemingly, Trump had been convinced by Netanyahu, Ron Dermer and CENTOM's General Kurilla (Politico reports that Kurilla was instrumental in persuading Trump that DNI Tulsi Gabbard was wrong in her assessment that Iran had 'no bomb'). Trump sided with the Israelis, asserting that Iran was "very close" to having a bomb, and added that he 'didn't care what she [Gabbard] thinks'. Trump did speculate out loud - the day before the sneak 13 June - that an Israeli attack (on Iran) "could speed [up] a deal". There is little doubt that Syria's unexpectedly sudden 'fall' galvanized the neo-cons to imagine they might quickly repeat the exercise in Iran. This is why, too, so much emphasis is being laid on assassinating the Supreme Leader. When Iran did not collapse; when the Iranian system rebooted itself unexpectedly swiftly; and when Iran's retaliatory strikes on Israel began, the pro-Israeli bloc panicked and exerted tremendous pressure on Trump for the U.S. to enter the war on Israel's behalf.

This left Trump facing a terrible dilemma - having to choose between the sirens, Scylla and Charybdis - either to alienate his MAGA support base (who voted for him precisely to prevent the U.S. joining another forever war (thus likely causing a GOP loss at the next midterms)), or to alienate his ultra-rich Jewish donors (such as Miriam Adelson, whose money holds sway over Congress, and whose resources are harnessed by the Deep State to pursue mutual interests with the Israeli-Firsters), who would turn against him.

Best of the Web: Summer snow blankets ski resorts across western North America - up to 10 inches of snowfall dumped

Rare summer snow for Mount Bachelor.
Rare summer snow for Mount Bachelor.
A rare weather event swept across North America's western high-elevation ski resorts on June 21, as the first day of summer brought a fresh blanket of snow to mountains from Oregon to Alberta. While many regions prepared for summer heat, a cold front delivered winter conditions to several iconic destinations, surprising locals and visitors alike.

In Montana, Whitefish Mountain Resort awoke to six inches of new snow, while Logan Pass in Glacier National Park was buried, prompting the closure of the Going-to-the-Sun Road's alpine sections. The National Weather Service reported that elevations above 6,000 feet could see up to two feet of accumulation.

Canada's Banff Sunshine Village recorded up to 10 inches (25 centimeters) of snow, as heavy rain and wind battered the surrounding foothills. Similar scenes played out at Mount Bachelor and Timberline Lodge in Oregon, as well as at resorts across the northern Rockies, including Panorama in British Columbia, Bridger Bowl and Big Sky in Montana, Grand Targhee in Wyoming, and Sun Valley in Idaho.

Flashback Best of the Web: Christians United for Israel: How the largest pro-Israel organization in the US rose to power

Well before Theodore Herzl founded political Zionism and published The Jewish State, Christian Zionists in the United States and England were already seeking to direct and influence the foreign policy of both nations in service to a religious obsession end times prophecy

Christians United for Israel, John Hagee, Christian zionism
© Sebastian Scheiner | APTexas evangelist John Hagee of Christians United for Israel addresses a crowd of his followers and Israeli supporters at a rally at the Jerusalem convention center, April 6, 2008.
The largest pro-Israel organization in the United States is not composed of Jews, but of Christian evangelicals, with a total membership of 7 million, more than 2 million more members than the entirety of the American Jewish community.

Members of this organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), met in Washington on Monday, attracting thousands of attendees and featuring speeches from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Secretary of State and former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Vice President Mike Pence, and National Security Advisor John Bolton. CUFI's leader, controversial evangelical preacher John Hagee, has met with President Donald Trump several times and was recently part of an exclusive White House meeting in March on the administration's upcoming "peace plan" for Israel and Palestine.

CUFI is but one of many organizations throughout American history that have promoted the state of Israel and Zionism on the grounds that a Jewish ethnostate in Palestine is a requirement for the fulfillment of end-times prophecy and necessary for Jesus Christ to return to Earth — an event Christians often refer to as "the Second Coming."

While organizations like CUFI and its predecessors have long seen the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, and the later Israeli victory and conquest of Jerusalem in 1967, as the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, there is one prophecy that this sect of evangelical Christians believes is the only thing standing between them and the Second Coming. There are estimated to be more than 20 million of these Christians, often referred to as Christian Zionists, in the United States and they are a key voting bloc and source of political donations for the Republican Party.

Comment: As such, they're not actually Christians. We may as well just distinguish 'Israeli Zionists' from 'American Zionists'.

As was explored in previous installments of this series, these Christian Zionists, much like religious Zionist extremists in Israel, believe that the Al Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock must be replaced with a Third Jewish Temple in order to usher in the end times.

How we taught a generation to live in fear

Everyone's Afraid to Speak

Someone our family has known forever recently told my sister that they've been reading my Substack and that if they wrote the things I write, people would call them crazy. I got a kick out of that — not because it's untrue, but because it reveals something darker about where we've ended up as a society. Most people are terrified of being themselves in public.

My sister's response made me laugh: "People do call him crazy. He simply doesn't care." The funniest part is that I don't even write the craziest stuff I research — just the stuff I can back up with sources and/or my own personal observations. I always try to stay rooted in logic, reason and facts though — I'm clear when I'm speculating and when I'm not.

This same guy has sent me dozens of private messages over the last 4 or 5 years challenging me on stuff I share online. I'll respond with source material or common sense, and then — crickets. He disappears. If I say something he doesn't want to hear, he vanishes like a child covering his ears. Over the last few years, I've been proven right about most of what we've argued about, and he's been wrong. But it doesn't matter — he's got the memory of a gnat and the pattern never changes.

Best of the Web: World needs 'fundamentally new development model' - Putin

The global system must pivot away from neocolonialism, which enabled the 'golden billion' to siphon resources for the elites, the Russian president says.

The world needs a new development model that is not based on the principles of neocolonialism and is resilient to political manipulation, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

Speaking on Friday at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin stated that throughout the past several decades, the so-called 'golden billion' has been pumping out resources from other nations to benefit the interests of a narrow circle of elites. He pointed to the example of the US, saying the country's "super incomes" never actually reached ordinary citizens or the middle class.

The Russian president insisted that changes in the political sphere should be reflected in the people's quality of life, in education, science, and infrastructure. He called for a "fundamentally new development model, one that is not built on the rules of neocolonialism."

Best of the Web: The Iran trap: Everyone wants Americans to fight their wars for them

israel iran flags trump
One of the defining aspects of Ukraine's strategy in the war against Russia is escalation - Not so much in terms of damage to Russia, but in terms of western involvement. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has made it his primary mission to convince western allies that their direct intervention in the war is absolutely necessary. Why? He asserts that Ukraine is the "guardian at the gate" supposedly preventing Russia from steamrolling through Europe.

The claim is absurd for a few reasons.

First, NATO officials and the establishment media have spent the better part of the last three years claiming that Russia was on the ropes and their military was crippled. Now, suddenly, as it becomes clear that Ukraine is losing the war badly (a result I predicted at the beginning of the conflict), those same people are asserting that Russia has the ability to invade multiple countries and rampage through the EU.

Second, we've heard the "domino effect" argument before. The public was fooled by the same idea during the Vietnam War. The notion that Americans MUST play world police in every fight or face a series of toppling catastrophes is a lie that has plagued our society for generations. The fact of the matter is, most wars have nothing to do with us.

Best of the Web: Israeli strikes on Iran 'completely unprovoked' - Moscow

Attacks on nuclear sites pose global risks and cannot be justified, according to Russia's ambassador to the UN

Russia's envoy to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, has condemned Israel's recent airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday, the diplomat said West Jerusalem was acting with impunity, backed by the West.

Israel launched the strikes on uranium enrichment sites in Iran on Friday and killed several senior commanders and scientists in targeted assassination operations, claiming the moves were preemptive steps to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran, which denies pursuing a military nuclear program, responded by launching multiple volleys of ballistic missiles at Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv.

Nebenzia said Israel had apparently intended to sabotage the indirect US-Iran nuclear talks which had been scheduled to resume Sunday. Tehran has declared that the strikes have effectively ended any diplomatic pathway.
"This is a completely unprovoked attack - whatever Israel may claim to the contrary - and it constitutes a gross violation of the UN Charter and international law. Responsibility for all the consequences of these actions rests entirely with the Israeli leadership and those who condone them."

"I suffered painful sodomy, truly felt like I was splitting in two. It's a terrible experience, but there's something about these things, perhaps in their strangeness, that's like... maybe the hardest component is that if you tell people about these things, they'll think you're crazy. I remember many types of severe sexual abuse, but there's something about these ritualistic abuses that makes them the bottom of darkness."

In direct words and with a clear voice, Emunah (pseudonym, like all victims' names in this article) describes the severe abuse she allegedly experienced in her childhood. Organized sexual abuse that included "ceremonies" with supposed religious significance. Horrifying ceremonies in which religious people, some from her own family, sacrificed her as an offering for spiritual transcendence or redemption.

Emunah is not alone. More than ten women between the ages of 20-45 with whom we spoke describe a severe phenomenon raising serious concern that in Israel, like many countries worldwide, organized sexual abuse of children is occurring right under everyone's nose.
