Nato and EU leadship could have known better. About 80 years ago, the Anglo-Saxon mass murder of German civilians through bombing campains agains large cities like Hamburg, Dresen and others only increased support for the Nazis, and thus helped prolong the war.
As a side note, although <this> war was finally won by the Red Army (mostly Russians), they never engaged in such attacks against civilian targets. Which counters the prevailing view of Stalinist Russia as a murderous dictatorship, and the West as stronghold of freedom and democracy.
Western leadership has lost its way for far longer than now admitted.
