More than 100 Palestinians have been killed following Israeli airstrikes on a school sheltering displaced people in the east of the Gaza Strip, as the occupying regime presses ahead with its months-long aggression on the besieged territory.
Palestine's official WAFA news agency said over 100 citizens were killed and dozens injured on Saturday morning after the Israeli occupation forces bombed the al-Tabi'in school in the al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City.Citing local sources, the agency said the occupation warplanes bombed the school while citizens were performing the dawn prayer.
"
The Israeli strikes targeted the displaced people while performing Fajr (dawn) prayers, the matter led to a rapid increase in the number of casualties," the government media office in Gaza said in a statement.
The media office stressed that the Israeli attack comes within the "framework of the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people in a clear manner."
The statement added that "due to the horror of the massacre and the large number of martyrs, the medical crews, civil defense, relief and emergency teams have not been able to retrieve the bodies of all the martyrs so far."
The media office censured the Israeli massacre in the strongest terms, calling on the world to condemn it and hold the occupying regime and the US administration fully responsible for the deadly bombing.
It also renewed its call for the international community and UN organizations to pressure Tel Aviv to stop the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing against Palestinian civilians and displaced persons in the Gaza Strip, and "stop the flow of blood."
The Israeli occupation army confirmed the attack in a statement and claimed that the school "served as a hideout for Hamas commanders."
Backed by the US and its Western allies, the Israeli regime launched an all-out invasion of Gaza after it was caught off-guard by Operation al-Aqsa Storm inside the occupied territories in October last year.
Nearly 40,000 Palestinians have since been killed, most of them women and children, and upwards of 91,000 others injured in the merciless Israeli aggression.
Israel has also been enforcing a crippling siege on the coastal territory by choking off the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory.

Saturday, 10 August 2024 7:41 AM
"The massacre at al-Tabaeen school in the al-Daraj neighborhood in the center of Gaza City is a horrific crime that marks a dangerous escalation in the unprecedented series of crimes and massacres in the history of wars, perpetrated in the Gaza Strip by the new Nazis," Hamas said.
Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement said, "The enemy has committed a brutal massacre, with the full US support, against displaced people while they were performing the dawn prayer inside a school in the center of Gaza City."
"We strongly condemn the Zionist fascism, and denounce the United States' full support to Israel to press ahead with its genocidal crimes in Gaza," Ansarullah spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam said in a statement.
He said Arab and Muslim nations must assume their responsibility for the Palestinians in Gaza, stressing that shame and disgrace anyone who fails in his religious and humanitarian duties.

US to provide Israel with additional $3.5bn in military aid amid Gaza war
Saturday, 10 August 2024 10:38 AM
The administration of President Joe Biden has announced plans to send an additional $3.5bn to Israel to spend on US-made weapons and military equipment amid the occupying regime's months-long onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The US State Department said it had notified Congress of the Biden administration's intention to release billions of dollars worth of foreign military financing to Israel.
CNN reported earlier on the release of the amount which comes from a $14 billion supplemental funding bill for Israel passed by the Congress in April.
The State Department said part of the new financial aid would go to Israel's Netzah Yehuda battalion, an Israeli military unit which is based in the occupied West Bank and has for long been committing human rights abuses against Palestinians there.
The State Department also said it had decided against sanctioning the unit, stressing that it was satisfied with what was claimed to be "Israeli efforts to address" violations by the battalion.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken determined in a finding made public in April that the battalion carried out grave human rights abuses against Palestinians, triggering an investigation under US legislation related to US military aid to foreign forces.
Despite protests from Republican lawmakers over the findings of abuse related to the battalion, Blinken said he would allow aid to continue to the unit in order to give Israel time to address the wrongdoing.
Iran condemns 'heinous' Israeli bombing of displaced Gazans at school
Saturday, 10 August 2024 11:18 AM
Iran has condemned an Israeli bombing of a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip that left more than a hundred people dead and a lot more injured.
"The continuation of the insane attacks by the Zionist regime against Palestinian civilians and the brutal massacre of women, children and the elderly, especially today's heinous attack by this regime on the Palestinian refugees living in the al-Taba'in school, once again proved that the apartheid regime of Israel does not respect any of the rules and regulations of international law as well as moral and human principles," Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani said Saturday.
Early on Saturday, Israel bombed the al-Tabi'in school in the al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City as the citizens were performing the dawn prayer.
Stressing that the barbaric attack was a clear example of simultaneously committing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, Kan'ani said, "The only way to deal with this cruel regime is the firm and decisive action of Muslim and freedom-loving countries across the world...against occupation and aggression."
Kan'ani described the Israeli attack on the al-Tabi'in school as a clear example of threats to international peace and security, calling for immediate and effective action by the United Nations Security Council based on the seventh chapter of the United Nations Charter to curb and stop Israel's crimes.
