oldschoolrider He sells prep gear, so making it sound like the end of civilization is right around the corner is his sales pitch to dumb Muricans.
I am not one who feels like all is doom and gloom but I do find myself thinking about how to cope if the power goes out for an extended period, and do I have manual things, as simple as can openers and such. And a camp stove and fuel. I imagine most of us who have done some camping have equipment. And I do wonder how the harvest will be this year.
ReRan We were in the Valley in L.A. for the '94 earthquake. No power for two weeks, no gas for two weeks, no water for almost three weeks. Camping gear on hand: two burner stove, a dozen propane bottles, dry foods, several cases of bottled water, several cases of beer, sleeping bags, propane lantern, plus cases and bags of dog and cat food. We also had several 5-gallon buckets, and a pool in the backyard. Comes in handy for flushing the toilet. That was our earthquake prep. These days, we've expanded on that quite a bit.
balboa schwartz I bet for the first few days it was kind of exciting, living so raw. Wonder how I would feel if it went on for a whole winter.
ReRan I have bug-out plans for both anarchy and nuclear fallout scenarios. I prefer the anarchy plan, but it won't be viable if any capital cities near me or Chicago are targeted with nukes. Got a old diesel this year with the fact that you can make diesel from plastic in a still the back of my mind. Also, I can easily plow through barricades that individuals might up up to rob us or worse. Also helps I can go off-road in that situation.
