Elon Musk says 'woke mind virus' makes Netflix 'unwatchable'

Elon Musk said Netflix is shedding subscribers because its programming has been infected by the "woke mind virus" which has made the streaming service "unwatchable."

Tesla's billionaire boss was reacting to Netflix's share price tanking in pre-market trading on Wednesday after the California-based company revealed it had lost 200,000 subscribers between January and March of this year.

The company expects that it will lose an additional 2 million subscribers by the end of the second quarter.

Musk did not specify which content on Netflix was "woke" though the company has been criticized for programming deemed by some to be provocative.

Earlier this year it released "He's Expecting," a Japanese-language comedy drama about a man who becomes pregnant.

Netflix also released "Dear White People," an original series about black students' experiences at an Ivy League colleague. The series caused a stir due to what some said was a racist portrayal of white people.

Another recently released documentary, "Vikings: Valhalla," was criticized for inaccurately depicting women as Viking warriors.

Last year, however, Netflix was criticized by LGBTQ activists and their supporters for not censoring Dave Chappelle's standup special which included jokes and comments about transgender people.

Netflix's 26% tumble after the bell on Tuesday erased about $40 billion of its stock market value. Since it warned in January of weak subscriber growth, the company has lost nearly half of its value.

It was the first time in more than 10 years that Netflix reported a decrease in the number of paid subscribers.

The company said inflation, the war in Ukraine, and fierce competition among streaming services was leading to an erosion of its customer base.

The lagging subscriber growth prompted Netflix for the first time to say it might offer lower-priced version of the service with advertising.

And not only is Netflix woke, the movies are dark and grim, predictive progamming for a dark future they plan to instill upon us.

While mass media (TV) showed some low- and medium standard entertainment, the whole industry was not designed for financial gains. The government kept on pumping (tax) money into it, to achieve conformance and obedience of the populus through indoctrination and propaganda.

Western social media and entertainment serve the very same purpose. Now, they are only about to drop the pretense of profit orientation.

I spent a few days at a friend's during the past Christmas Holidays, she was a Netflix subscriber and we watched a few movies. I should say we started to watch many movies that were so woke as to be borderline cringe worthy. She is one of those who have cancelled the service. Netflix is finding out about the ''go woke go broke''. Good. That loud minority is just that, a minority, an annoying minority.

I've still got Netflix... I like their ad-free versions of some of the brainless tv series like Seinfeld, The old Star Trek, that blade making show... non political stuff. I've only attempted to watch their own new productions a few times and just found them simply bad. Not so much woke as just poorly done and unwatchable.

DeliciousTears I watched a lot of stuff on Net Flicks, but I have already watched all the good stuff. They have now stopped the old Twilight Zone episodes and the first Star Trek episodes. If I couldn't find anything new to watch, I could on occassion try either of those. Yeah, when trying new stuff, bad writing, too much woke and bad acting, etc. I have liked the Criterion channel at times but they are mostly old and sometimes too bazzar/cerebral, artsy fartsy.
