THAT was an epic speech against totalitarianism?! Maybe I listened to a different speech. What I heard was a lot of divisive good guy/bad guy rhetoric (WE will not let THEM blah blah), crowing about American exceptionalism (greatest country that ever existed in the history of the world blah blah), and a bizarre segue into listing everyone he could think of off the top of his head as examples of people 'America produced' (some sort of assembly-line process? An injection of Amerijuice?) I think he must have forgotten his lines and was improvising at that point. You'd have been justified in concluding that nobody born anywhere else in the world had ever done or thought anything important. There was not one moment of thoughtfulness, depth, or reality in the whole speech, that I heard, but he certainly managed to embody the American arrogance that is motivating other world powers to conspire to bring this country to its knees. Though he can apparently still get away with riding on a red, white, and blue flying carpet of utter mindless nonsense, I predict that it won't be very many years down the road before the patriotic pronouncements that so thrilled the crowd at Mt. Rushmore will be a source of embarrassment to most people. At that point, to what and whom will authority and legitimacy be ascribed? The Antifa and BLM crowd want there to be no authority at all, but they're finding out how well that works, which is not at all! Stay tuned, folks! It's not going to get any less interesting from here!
