does this mean that Californias drought maybe over? 2 weeks & 4 days to the start of winter. Had another very short growing season this year. Started heating my home in August for about 6 hrs. in the evening. October the same thing for about the first 2 weeks then all night till the second week in November, sense then it's been 24 & 7. Thankfully I really enjoy winter as long as it stays well below freezing and there's no rain. Got 260 bags of wood pellet & 3 cord of wood for back-up, If it's anything like last years early winter and very late spring I'll need another 65 bags of wood pellets. I just got my buns out of living in a trailer in nature for last 4 months... no kitchen no bathroom but electricity for a small heater and a heating pad i slept with. The last 3 weeks the nights played between -20°C and -29°C.

Drought over? Considering this is the first rain many of us have seen since February, I’m thinking no. The snow is great, in some places crazy (or brutal depending on your POV), but there’s zero spring, summer and autumn rain. We had decent rain the previous cycle, and I was hopeful for 2019, but this year has been as dry as they come. I’ve lived in the same town since the 60s, and all I’ve seen is a trend toward wilder winters, and generally cooler temperatures overall. Some folks think “The Drought” means years without decent rain. That’s a misconception. We used to get around 18” of rain every year with an 8 +/-5 every 5-6 years. Now we’re getting 8” with 18 +/-5 every 3-6 years (that’s nearly inverted), and people think it means something. We’ve always had rainy years, just less frequently. This definitely hasn’t been one of them.
*edit to add: That should read that every 3-6 years, when we get that 18”, people think it means something. And I wasn’t necessarily referring to zaddick specifically. I meant all of my neighbors, the people on Facebook, Nextdoor, the newspapers, Channel 7....
