A fierce storm struck areas around Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 28 to 29 April 2018. During the storm some areas recorded over 110 mm of rain and wind gusts of 130 km/h. At least 2 people have died and 1,200 evacuated.

Some areas saw more than a month's worth of rain fall in 24 hours. Rivers and streams overflowed, flooding parts of the city forcing hundreds from their homes. The Luján River broke it banks in Pilar, and overflowing streams caused flooding in the districts of La Matanza, Quilmes, Padre Varela de Luján and Lomas de Zamora.

Other evacuations were required as a result of the strong winds which damaged houses, downed power cables and uprooted trees. Around 100,000 people were left without electricity.

Local media report that two people died in the municipality of Tres de Febrero after they were electrocuted during the storm.
