FBI releases all of its JFK assassination files - with redactions

The FBI said Monday it has now authorized the release of all the previously withheld materials in its files about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The bureau said that the files would now be released by the National Archives on a rolling basis in the coming weeks.

Last week, President Donald Trump delayed the release of an unspecified number of documents while also allowing the release of dozens of new files on events surrounding the 1963 assassination. The White House said at the time it was doing so at the request of the FBI and CIA while directing federal agencies to re-review remaining files. Officials cited national security concerns.

The FBI said Monday that the remaining documents contain some redactions that relate to individuals who provided information during its investigation of the shooting, and whose lives may be at risk if they're identified.

The bureau said it will remove all redactions, apart from names and addresses of people who may still be living.

Comment: After the push for delaying the release, it's curious that they've suddenly decided to authorize all of their previously withheld materials. We may still never see the full picture since things have a way of "disappearing" when it comes to anything that could truly shed light on the matter. Perhaps it's that they've redacted things "that related to individuals who provided information" that allows them to go ahead with the release. It's a vague term that could applied to anything they don't want to reveal. For more see:

Well, there isn't much there, but all the tidbits over the years do indicate the obvious CIA hit on the president and the fact that all other agencies, media etc kept quiet and supported the operation to this very day.

I was 10 at the time of the assassination. I'm now 64. Anyone who provided information at the time is at least 74. Only a handful must still be living. And, officially speaking, this was "a lone wolf attack", right? So who is going to put their lives at risk?

What a load of bull.
