Remember that there were eliminated as a disruption by the tsunami?
Remember that the US strongly supported the rebels?
I assume, as every thinking American does, that we intended this group to break away and establish their own 'country' where we would promptly recognize the new 'democracy' with a US military base to 'protect' the new democracy?

Insert the different, wait for 2 new generations that don't know any different, then you are part of the familiar. No longer different. No longer odd. But itsn't it hard to sell the 'uniqueness' of a civilization when they no longer dress in kimonos and use chopsticks. Isn't part of the desire to have change to be able to go somewhere where McDonalds isn't? But rescued once again by the media that can always be relied upon to fulfill the desire. See China where peasants sow rice plants in paddies by hand. See lions roam free on plains where if truth were told are cattle grazing areas. Live in the past thru media. Oh the coming glories of 3D visualization.
