venezuelan workers support Maduro
The working class takes to the streets of Caracas in support of the Bolivarian government of President Nicolas Maduro.
These actions by supporters of the socialist government take place as opposition sectors have been calling for street violence.

Venezuelan workers are marching in the streets of capital Caracas Saturday to show their support for the government of President Nicolas Maduro and to advocate for peace and stability in the South American country. The march started in the morning in central Caracas and will conclude with a rally at the Miraflores Presidential Palace.

Vice President Aristobulo Isturiz said earlier this week that the demonstrations will be part of a set of initiatives driven by people to defend their social demands and reject the right-wing plan aimed at destabilizing the government of Maduro.

"They right-wing comes to provoke ... So beware falling into provocations ... They do so because they don't have the strength, because they don't have the ability to move people, they don't have the moral authority to do so," Isturiz said.

These actions by supporters of the socialist government take place as opposition sectors have been calling for street violence if a recall referendum against President Maduro is not held before the end of 2016.

Earlier this month the National Electoral Council ruled that referendum won't be possible until 2017, a decision that has triggered the anger of oppositions hardliners which could foment violent protests, like those of 2014 known as the Guarimbas, which left 43 dead and over 870 injured.

In recent months there has been a wave of violence against government supporters, left-wing activists and public servants, which many believe is an attempt to undermine the future of the Chavista movement in the country.
