Police in Florida appear to have made 'dopes' of themselves after they arrested a man for possessing what they thought was crystal meth, when it was actually icing sugar from a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
Orlando resident Daniel Rushing is now planning to sue over the case of mistaken amphetamine, and according to the
Orlando Sentinel has been put off munching the sugary snack in his car for good.
The 64-year-old was stopped by police in December last year due to an apparent traffic violation while leaving a store parking lot.
During an inspection of his vehicle, officer Shelby Riggs-Hopkins discovered what she identified as "some sort of narcotic,"according to a police report published by the
Sun Sentinel.
"I retrieved the substance that I initially saw on the floor board and two other small pieces from the floor board of the driver side," Riggs-Hopkins wrote.
"Rushing stated that he has never done any drugs in his life and he has no idea how the substance got in his vehicle. Rushing stated that the substance is sugar from a Krispie Kreme Donut [sic] that he ate."An initial police test showed that the substance was crack cocaine, before suspicions were raised that it was meth, reports
WFTV9.
"I kept telling them, 'That's glaze from a doughnut... Then they said, 'No, it's meth, crystal meth,'" said Rushing.Rushing spent around 10 hours in a police cell before he was allowed to post bail of $2,500.
Less than a week later he was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing when further tests found the substance not to be a drug, but most likely a sugary, somewhat addictive, remnant of a doughnut.
When a cop can't tell the difference between icing from a Doughnut and crystal meth... All I can say is "Bad Cop, No Doughnut" for you.
"An initial police test showed that the substance was crack cocaine" These roadside kits they use show everything as an illegal narcotic. As well as the K9 sniffer dogs they 'train'.
A 64 year old man, 10 hours, 2500 dollars and almost a week to be cleared of all charges? (except maybe those from his wife for sneaking a sweet snack). A 64 year old man being harassed by a 12 year old authoritarian. What has happened to 'Respect your Elders'. Common Sense? Rhetorical questions , I know, there is a 'War on drugs' out there.
Thank god he wasn't shot or chokeholded to death. 'Bad Seed' cops aside, it is so sad that our police don't even realize how they are being used and manipulated to be the covert Martial Law operatives of the PTB, who will sacrifice them, by sniper fire even if necessary, in their desperate need for control.
