They 'scream' when cut or harvested. Been proven over and over. Yet these crusading vegans seem to forget that plants are living, breathing (respirating, actually) things with a level of cognizance that humans are just beginning to fathom. Guess its okay to eat certain life forms, and not others. Funny idea, that.
Sorry you vegan morons: Plants like living, too, and likewise respond harshly to being slaughtered for food.
Basically most ALL 'eating' involves the destruction of life forms by one species against another, weaker species. The entire universe is geared this way, as 'black holes' consume stars, solar systems, and even entire galaxies, including planets that may have life on them as well.
In short, the entire universe is part of this ugly-ass 'eat one another to survive' program, and we are simply one among the countless many of the 'cosmic comestibles'. Eat or be eaten. Isn't nature wonderful?
(Sure, if you're the one doing the eating......)
Someday, if we survive long enough, we will possibly become pure energy beings of a (likely) quasi-electrical nature, maybe even united as a single conscious energy force or entity, and no longer required to feed ourselves with the life and essence of other living things alone.
Will we find that energy itself is 'alive', and thus we are once again forced to consume other 'living' things to survive?
Who knows?
But one thing we should always remember: we, too, are potentially a 'food of the Gods'.
Again, we are simply another in an endless line of 'cosmic comestibles'.
(Let's just hope if these 'Gods' ever come and pay us a visit, that they aren't hungry when they do........ ) ;-)
