The Italian mafia, 'Ndrangheta in primis, funnels most of the drugs from South America into Europe through the major ports in the North Sea, especially Hamburg and Antwerp where controls are a looser compared to the Mediterranean due to the tight controls on the strait of Gibraltar. Moreover, the police forces from these countries are a lot less experienced in dealing with the tactics used by the mafia and the governments aren't supporting them enough in fighting them.
