So, a Black Hole is not a perfect trap, for Supermassive Black Holes at the centers of large Elliptical Galaxies are seen to have emissions at their poles. M87 has such a jet, as do plenty of other objects.
In that case, there is an Event Horizon, but it's not the inescapable trap. It would continue to process matter as does a star, but it also processes light, so it feeds on anything. A different kind of a nuclear engine. If gravity is likewise a part of the electromagnetic spectrum, then it will process it as well. Hmm.
Just a moment of wild speculation on my part.
